在2025年上海城市空间艺术季上，复兴岛船台公园的江畔，升起了一座动态的“绿色太阳”，我们将其命名为“太阳机器”。

At the 2025 Shanghai Urban Space Art Season, a dynamic “Green Sun” rises on the riverside of Fuxing Island Ship Berth Park—an installation we named “Sun Machine”.

船台公园前身为中华造船厂，城市斗转星移，而这里似乎并未发生太多变化，因此，厂房、巨大塔吊、轨道便将一种浓厚的工业氛围锚定进具体场域。昔日的造船声响犹在耳畔，机器叮咚不停歇。这一次，童年记忆里街头公园的游乐设施被我们搬运至这样的场景之中，融合持续运转的机器与辐射能量的太阳两种符号意象，用内凹形的金属圆盘与半圆形橙红灯具，向外传递着可被直观感知的共鸣。

Shanghai Shipyard Riverside Park was formerly the site of the Zhonghua Shipbuilding Factory. While Shanghai changes with each passing day, this place has remained largely unchanged. As a result, the factory buildings, huge tower cranes and tracks together create a strong industrial atmosphere in this area. The clamor of shipbuilding in days gone by still seems to echo, with machines clanging and clattering ceaselessly. This time, we have transported the playground equipment from the street parks of our childhood memories into such a setting. Incorporating the imagery of ceaselessly running machinery and the radiant sun as natural symbols, this installation employs concave metal discs and semicircular orange-red lamps to convey an intuitively perceptible resonance.

装置的核心互动平台近似正圆形，用直白的形式语言将装置与“太阳”这一自然符号联系起来。一对圆盘一大一小，一高一低，二者均被底座边缘的一圈弹簧支撑。底座之上，转译健身单杠符号的曲线栏杆悬挑发散，金属编织防护网和秋千错落着穿插其中，这台机器至此便已“组装”完成。机器处处充满“弹性”，随着蹦跳的人群摆动。

The core interactive platform of the installation is circular. Using the straightforward formal language of a perfect circle links the installation to the natural symbol of the “sun”. The two discs vary in size and height and are both supported by a ring of springs along the edge of their base. Above the base of the installation, the overhanging and radiating curved railings are transformed from fitness horizontal bars. Metal woven protective mesh and swings are interspersed among the railings in a scattered arrangement. At this point, the “machine” is fully assembled.

夜幕降临，圆盘近旁的灯光散发出深红色光晕，笼罩着绿色机器及其周围空间，幽幽红光如落日似朝霞，持续散发着某种原始吸引力，用超自然空间氛围吸引游人本能地靠近。

The machine is imbued with elasticity throughout, swaying with the bouncing crowd. As night falls, the lights near the discs emit a deep crimson glow that envelops the green machine and the space around it. The red light is like the setting sun or the morning glow, exuding a primal allure. It draws visitors instinctively closer, creating a supernatural spatial atmosphere.

太阳机器作为一个成人人体尺度的无动力互动装置，从年轻人玩耍舞动与老人晨练健身的行为中获得互动灵感。从装置开放使用之后的效果来看，成都站多为儿童参与体验，此次则吸引了许多大人加入跳跃。参与者身体力行的互动行为回应了我们的设计期待——太阳机器能够释放全年龄段人群的雀跃童趣，而非作为一个单一的儿童游戏空间。人们会被弹性激发身体本能，本能地跳跃，感受失重与平衡，同时也使装置的“行动”特征更加明显。

As an adult human-scale, non-motorized interactive installation, the Sun Machine draws inspiration for its interactive behavior from the playful movements of young people and the morning exercises of the elderly. Judging from the response since its opening, the Chengdu stop was mostly visited and experienced by children, while this time it has attracted many adults to join in the jumping. The physical interactions of all participants with the installation have fulfilled our design expectation: The Sun Machine is meant to unleash the joyful childlikeness of people of all ages, rather than serve merely as a children’s playground. People’s instincts are awakened by elasticity. They jump spontaneously, experiencing weightlessness and balance. In turn, this further accentuates the kinetic character of the installation.

一旦有人踏上圆盘，原本静默平稳的状态随即被打破，机器与参与者都将处于充满不确定性的动态之中。在这场公众参与里，我们与互动者完成了一场共筑的观念游戏。单人互动时是自我平衡的博弈，个体通过自我调整和约束以适应摇摆的危险；多人参与会彼此牵连，集体跳跃牵动整个场景，带来合拍或失衡，自我表达与集体协调使得同频成为共赢或共输的一体两面。无论是谨慎的单人缓步，还是默契的集体摇摆，人与人之间在动态共振中会达到某种微妙平衡。

As soon as someone steps onto the disc, its original stationary and stable state is instantly disrupted, and both the machine and its participants enter a dynamic state full of uncertainty. In this public interactive engagement with the installation, we have jointly accomplished a conceptual game with the participants. When a single person interacts with the installation, it becomes a game of self-balancing—the individual adjusts and restrains themselves to navigate the precariousness of the machine’s swaying. When multiple people interact together, they become interconnected. Collective jumping animates the entire scene, bringing about harmony or imbalance, self-expression and collective coordination, making “same frequency” a two-sided coin of either shared victory or shared loss. Whether it’s the cautious steps of a single person or the tacit collective swaying, a subtle balance is achieved among people through dynamic resonance.

由于装置项目相较于建筑项目，需求简单环节垂直，所以更容易集中火力来贯彻我们的设计方法和目标。同时，做装置对做建筑设计有归纳和验证作用，也树立榜样，建筑是不是也可以达到如装置表达般的简洁、清晰、有效。而这之于我，两者互为志趣和补充，同为深入真相的矿工与蝴蝶。

Compared with architectural projects, installation projects have simpler requirements and more streamlined processes, making it easier to focus our efforts on implementing our design methods and goals. At the same time, installation design helps summarize and validate architectural design. It also sets an example: can architecture also achieve the same conciseness, clarity, and effectiveness as installation art? For me, installation design and architectural design complement and inspire each other, serving as miners and butterflies delving into the truth.
