第45届ARCO 2026以“展会中的两个空间”为核心主题。我们的提案正是对这一双重性的回应:一方面是一个被建构的空间——贵宾休息室;另一方面则是一个被唤起的空间——伊比利亚半岛西北部在今年八月失控燃烧的森林。项目标题“350,000公顷”指的是根据西班牙生态转型部数据,在那场灾难性野火中被烧毁的总面积。其中,仅奥伦塞省就达150,000公顷。2025年8月或许会被铭记为近代史上最黑暗的时刻之一——亦或成为灰烬之中,一种新的公民意识开始萌发的节点。

The 45th edition of ARCO 2026 takes as its central theme “two spaces within the fair.” Our proposal responds to this duality: on the one hand, a constructed space—the Guest Lounge—and on the other, an evoked space—the forests of the northwestern Iberian Peninsula that burned uncontrollably this past August. The project’s title, 350,000 Ha, refers to the total number of hectares scorched during those tragic wildfires, according to data from Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition. Of these, 150,000 ha were in the province of Ourense alone. August 2025 may be remembered as one of the darkest months in recent history—or, perhaps, as the moment when a new civic consciousness began to take shape among the ashes.

本项目提出了一处围绕两个核心理念构建的贵宾休息空间:
材料策略:采用来自烧毁森林的回收木材完成整个空间建构,目前这些区域正处于清理作业阶段;
火光:探索火焰的原始且富有吸引力的氛围,将其理解为一种能够将人聚集在温暖光晕之中的力量——正如这一空间在展会期间所呈现的状态。

The project proposes a Guest Lounge articulated around two central ideas:
Material Palette: Construct the entire project using timber salvaged from the burned forests, where clearing operations are currently underway.
Lumbre: Explore the primitive and captivating atmosphere of fire, understood as a force capable of bringing people together around its warm glow—just as this space will during the fair.

“We conceive this project as a material laboratory: an exploration of the stories that resources and landscapes are able to tell. With them, we propose a flexible space—calm and convivial during the day—that can transform into a stage for celebration at night; an exceptional island amid the intensity of the fair: more in shadow than exposed, more veiled than opaque, lighter than heavy.”

材料体系
MATERIAL PALETTE
根据最新数据,野火产生了150万吨烧毁木材——几乎相当于年度木材采伐量的一半。与直觉相反,这些木材大多仅表面受损,其内部结构仍然完整且可再利用。林业部门已警示,必须在六个月内完成木材清理,以防止其进一步劣化或引发虫害风险。自9月起,我们的主要合作伙伴FINSA已积极参与森林修复与材料的早期回收工作。本项目整合了四类再生资源:
● 碳化树皮:锯切前去除的烧焦树皮外层四段。通常被粉碎用于板材生产,在本项目中被再利用为覆层材料。
● 锯材:保留完整的内部芯材,经切割后作为结构材料使用,构建一系列“光之界面”,形成“lumbre”的空间载体。
● 木皮:通过对芯材进行“旋切”,获得厚度为2–3毫米的薄片,通常用于胶合板生产,在此用于包覆“lumbre”的表皮。
● 纤维板:将枝条、树皮及不可利用的木材粉碎后制成OSB板,在本项目中用于餐厅区域的表面覆层。

According to recent data, the wildfires generated 1.5 million tons of burned timber—almost half the annual volume of harvested wood. Contrary to what one might assume, most of this wood presents only superficial damage and retains a solid, usable inner core. The forestry sector has warned of the urgent need to remove the timber within the next six months to prevent deterioration and the risk of pests. Since September, FINSA—our primary partner—has been actively collaborating in the restoration of these forests and in the early recovery of the material. Our project mobilizes four types of reclaimed resources:
● Costeros: The four outer segments of charred bark removed prior to sawing. Typically shredded for boards, here they are reused as cladding.
● Sawn timber: The intact inner core is cut and used structurally to construct a series of planes of light that serve as the lumbre.
● Veneer: By “peeling” the inner core, thin sheets of 2–3 mm are obtained, traditionally used in plywood. These veneers will clad the skin of the Lumbre.
● Fiberboard: Branches, bark, and unusable trunks are shredded to produce OSB panels, here used as restaurant cladding.

火光
LUMBRE
项目提出构建一个具有纪念性尺度的火光,营造出温暖、包容且富有吸引力的聚集氛围。我们设想在昏暗空间中形成背光剪影,如同中国皮影戏般的视觉体验,使柔和的光辉与展会其他区域的视觉喧嚣形成对比。我们希望激发一种具有催眠感的集体体验,类似于Olafur Eliasson于2003年在泰特现代美术馆设置的“太阳”装置。同时,我们也构想一个亲密、近似居家的氛围,如同Stanley Kubrick电影《巴里·林登》中烛光场景所呈现的空间质感,以及Godfried Schalcken《烛光下读书的男子》所营造的静谧时刻。这一切由一组既独立又彼此关联的元素构成,如同Isamu Noguchi在日本创作的Akari家族纸灯系列所呈现的氛围。
The project proposes the construction of a monumental-scale lumbre, capable of gathering visitors within a warm, welcoming, and captivating atmosphere. We imagine silhouettes cut in backlight—like a Chinese shadow theater—in a dimly lit space where a soft glow stands in contrast to the visual noise of the rest of the fair. We seek to provoke a hypnotic experience of congregation, akin to the sun installed by Olafur Eliasson at Tate Modern in 2003. At the same time, we envision an intimate, almost domestic environment reminiscent of the candlelit scenes in Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick. A space inviting individual rest, like Man with a Beard Reading by Candlelight by Godfried Schalcken. All of this is constructed from a constellation of unique yet kindred elements, evoking the Akari family of paper lamps that Isamu Noguchi produced in Japan.

空间氛围
ATMOSPHERE
项目围绕光与暗的对比展开组织。六个倾斜的光面通过金属桁架悬挂于距地面四米的高度。这些光面作为“灯体”,以薄木单板覆面,并由另一套独立且可调节的桁架系统悬挂的聚光灯进行照明。这一火光面向一处暗色矩形空间,供访客进行非正式停留与休憩。其周边布置了吧台、衣帽间、赞助区域,以及一面斜向墙体,将矩形空间划分为两个三角区域:一侧为深色的休息室吧台,另一侧为金色调的餐厅及私密VIP包间。
The project is organized around the contrast between light and darkness. Six diagonal planes of light are suspended four meters above the ground using metal trusses. These planes, functioning as lamps, are clad in thin wooden veneers that receive light projected by spotlights. These hang from another, independent and adjustable truss. This lumbre faces a dark rectangular space where visitors rest informally. Surrounding it are the bar, cloakroom, sponsor areas, and a diagonal wall that divides the rectangle into two triangles: a dark one, housing the Bar Lounge, and a golden one containing the restaurant and a private VIP room.
