Located in a newly constructed building in Milan’s Washington district, the apartment spans three levels and is designed for a family of five. It brings together the city’s mix of history and innovation with a clear contemporary idea of the urban villa.

The setting matters. Historic buildings and generous green pockets frame the neighborhood, giving the apartment a strong urban address without taking away its sense of warmth or proportion.

The living area opens to a spacious room with a double-height ceiling that brings in light and expands the vertical volume. Studio Marco Piva shapes the home for daily family life and shared moments, with a large sofa that anchors the room and invites people to gather.

Gather Around The Table

The dining area centers on a large table with clean lines, set off by dark elements and pendant lighting that sharpen its graphic presence. A decorative wall adds depth, giving the room a composed setting for everyday meals.

Behind a sliding door, the kitchen stays compact and efficient. Its L-shaped layout gathers the main functions into a tight plan, while matte black cabinets, a marble-effect countertop, and a wooden snack bar keep the room practical and warm at once.

Open To The Patio

Large openings extend the living room outward to a sheltered urban patio. Furnished like an outdoor room, it uses a pergola to filter light and a ring of greenery to hold privacy and calm against the city edge.

The staircase on the ground floor becomes a key architectural element. Cantilevered steps and a transparent glass railing keep it light, and the rise through the double-height room strengthens the dialogue between levels while preserving openness.

Shape Light And Color

A restrained palette runs through the apartment, with ivory, sand, and warm gray set against natural wood flooring. Darker details add depth, while small touches of color appear in textiles and decorative elements without disturbing the calm tone.
