Text description provided by the architects. At the foot of the Montgó mountain in Javea, this dwelling unfolds, approaching its implementation with respect for the location and formal precision. The project avoids iconic gestures and prioritizes a clear integration into the environment through horizontal volumes, controlled proportions, and a land occupation that preserves the landscape's readability.
The mountain serves as a constant reference in the orientation and opening of the dwelling, while the private outdoor spaces—garden and pool—structure the domestic scale. The project is organized around this dual condition: a direct relationship with a prominent natural environment and the creation of a protected interior space that is habitable year-round.
This dwelling establishes two complementary fronts. Towards the Montgó, the main rooms open up with wide views and precise solar control. Towards the interior of the plot, the spaces are articulated around sheltered areas that ensure privacy and comfort. This strategy generates a continuous sequence between exterior and interior, where the boundaries are resolved through clear and functional spatial transitions.
The architecture is conceived as a continuous system of spaces visually and physically connected to the exterior. Porches, terraces, and large sliding openings expand the living areas and allow for flexible use throughout the year. These intermediate spaces are part of the main organization of the dwelling and respond to climatic criteria, shading, and cross-ventilation.
Natural light is managed as an additional material of the project. The orientation, the depth of the overhangs, and the position of the openings regulate solar incidence in different seasons, reducing energy demand and improving interior comfort.
The whole is defined by a reduced and timeless material palette, selected for its suitability to the Mediterranean context.
