Awarded Top 10 – SAE Level 02
a public library located in Damascus, Syria, and it stands as one of the most unique and unforgettable design experiences I have worked on.
The project presented significant challenges, particularly the complex site topography and the presence of the Barada River passing through the site. The real challenge was not altering the site, but rather respecting and preserving it as it is, allowing the library to grow naturally from the land itself.
The goal of the project was to design a library that serves the local community throughout the day, making it more than just a place for reading. The library integrates community spaces, outdoor areas, and flexible zones, becoming a vibrant hub for learning, gathering, and interaction.
Through deep site analysis and understanding the nature of the place, the library was designed to become an integral part of the landscape, seamlessly blending architecture with its surroundings.
This project was a meaningful journey and a truly unforgettable experience
