Text description provided by the architects. At the top of a 1970s building, the transformation of a duplex apartment creates a new way of living in the heights. This through-apartment opens generously onto two planted terraces, true outdoor extensions that invite relaxation in the heart of the city. With its clean lines and open volumes, the project reinvents space with an aesthetic inspired by architectural minimalism and Japanese principles.
The intervention begins with the extension of the 7th-floor terrace, now hosting a spacious kitchen and a light-filled dining room. The façades have been entirely reworked, and the openings enlarged to establish a constant dialogue between inside and outside, taking advantage of the apartment's through-type layout.
Inside, all partitions have been removed, exposing the raw concrete structure of the building. This constructive framework becomes the foundation for a new layout where functions are integrated into technical volumes (storage spaces, sanitary facilities, and an air-conditioning system) clad with natural anodized aluminium. This tailor-made setup optimizes every square meter while maintaining great spatial fluidity.
A series of wooden platforms, polished concrete finished, rhythm the sequence of spaces, suggesting uses rather than defining them. These platforms also facilitate level access to the terraces, erasing thresholds to better reveal the views. Through the large openings, Paris unfolds in a panoramic view, along with the abundant vegetation, as an urban oasis.
