Nestled in the Laurentian forest, Residence B+L is a contemporary study in vertical organization that prioritizes natural light and local topography. By elevating the living spaces into the canopy, the design creates a seamless dialogue between its minimalist interiors and the distant mountain silhouette. The building’s dark, stratified cladding serves as a tectonic tribute to the region’s geological heritage, balancing efficiency with a bold aesthetic signature.

项目位于加拿大劳伦琴地区的莫兰高地（Morin-Heights）。一对年轻夫妇在一块广阔且地势略呈山地起伏（该地区的典型特征）的地块上，建造他们的第一处家庭住宅。

Located in Morin-Heights, in Canadia’s Laurentians region, a vast lot with a gently mountainous topography—typical of the region—was selected by a young couple to build their first family home.

The mandate was to design a new, resolutely contemporary residence that harmonizes with both its natural context and the built environment.

这座两层建筑被划分为三个明确的功能区，并围绕一个垂直交通核心组织：起居（日间）空间、休憩（夜间）空间以及技术设备空间。

The two-story building is programmed into three distinct zones organized around a vertical circulation core: a living (day) block, a sleeping (night) block, and a technical block.

针对地形与林冠层的限制，起居空间被布置在上层，以最大化自然采光，并朝向东与南以获取日照。卧室区位于底层，包括三间卧室与一间浴室。

In response to the constraints of the topography and the forest canopy, the living areas are located on the upper floor to maximize natural light, oriented to capture the east and south sun. The sleeping quarters are situated on the ground floor, comprising three bedrooms and a bathroom.

贯穿整个住宅，大面积开窗将景观纳入室内视野，尤其是在上层，透过树林可以看到远处展开的山地地形。室外露台设置在二层，与起居空间形成直接联系。主露台从车棚上方延伸而出，朝向西北，以充分利用夏季午后的自然光。

Throughout the residence, expansive fenestration frames the landscape, particularly on the upper level where the mountainous terrain reveals itself in the distance through the trees. The outdoor terraces are positioned on the second floor, creating a seamless connection to the living spaces. Extending from the building above the carport, the main terrace is oriented northwest to take full advantage of the natural light on summer afternoons.

室内空间以克制为特征。所选用的色彩体系强调周边景观——这一点也是业主与建筑师共同的愿景。

Inside, the spaces are characterized by their sobriety. The selected color palette highlights the surrounding landscape—a shared vision held by both the clients and the architects.

建筑外部呈现为一个黑色体量，其中被雕刻出若干建筑性凹空间，显露出对比鲜明的覆层。深色木质立面采用板条覆面（board-and-batten）构造，并通过尺度控制强化建筑的层理表达，呼应周边山体的地质构成。

The exterior of the building takes the form of a black volume in which architectural alcoves have been carved, revealing a contrasting cladding. The dark wood siding features a board-and-batten pattern, scaled to emphasize the various strata of the building; an evocative nod to the geological composition of the neighboring mountains.
