Situated in the vibrant urban fabric of Lisbon, this 150 m² project unfolds over two floors of an iconic building from the 1950s, recently rehabilitated to embrace the demands of contemporary life. The intervention goes beyond mere restoration; it emerges as a manifesto of respect for the modernist legacy, reinterpreting the sobriety of the era through a bold and current lens. The central proposal was clear: to honor the memory of the original structure while injecting new energy that responds to the fluidity of today's daily life.

The development of the project focused on overcoming spatial challenges intrinsic to mid-century buildings. Through the introduction of expressive geometries and unexpected volumes, the layout was reorganized to maximize light and circulation. The staircase, which connects the two floors, transforms from a merely functional element into a sculptural transition piece, dictating the rhythm between the social areas and the private sphere of the dwelling.

Materiality and color play a fundamental narrative role here. Contrary to conventional neutrality, this project uses striking color elements to delineate functions and guide the eye. Deep tones and rich textures coexist with the rational lines of the architecture, creating points of visual tension that enhance the scale of the spaces. The interior design underwent meticulous curation, where period furniture is placed in direct dialogue with contemporary design pieces, establishing an aesthetic bridge between the sober glamour of the 1950s and today's expressive minimalism.

Functionality was addressed with intelligent carpentry solutions that integrate storage and conceal infrastructure without compromising the purity of the forms. Every detail, from the handles that evoke the original design to the new natural stone finishes, was chosen to reinforce the idea of durability and timeless elegance.
