Project description

The finalist project ‘City that COMes’ created as part of the competition and explores the reconstruction of post-war urban life by integrating natural and urban spaces to address both human and ecological needs. It reimagines the city as a symbiotic structure where forests—resilient during war—become restorative elements, connecting devastated urban areas with nature. The design emphasizes creating       a breathable, harmonious environment where green corridors permeate urban spaces, fostering a return to primal, essential human needs while respecting the natural ecosystem. Key areas are transformed into zones of deep regeneration, blending human use with self-sustaining natural growth. Forests envelop the city, acting not as barriers but as nurturing arms, supporting the rebuilding of urban life and culture. By preserving significant landmarks and integrating new, lightweight structures, the project honors the memory of past achievements while promoting interspecies coexistence. This vision proposes a framework for post-disaster urban planning, offering a model of sustainable, inclusive development adaptable to cities worldwide.
