Hello, I am Elexes Fernandez and this is my exhibition proposal for Live on festival (LOF) 10th anniversary, in partnership with the National Organ Transplant Unit, Ministry of health. The design aims to celebrate essay and artwork winners of LOF and share awareness on organ transplant as well as the stigma surrounding it.
Name of design: GARDEN OF LIFE
Concept:
The exhibition opens the visitors up to answer a question, “Will you give life another chance?” It probes the visitors of space to reflect on whether organ donation is significant enough to save another person’s life by giving them a chance to live freely.
Throughout the exhibition and storytelling, visitors fit in the shoes of others. The exhibition strives to create a sense of connection between visitors and organ receivers, creating a sense of universal identity.
The concept behind ‘garden of life’ began with a focus on the word ‘life’. I wanted to create a space that breathed life, a space that reflected the hope of living, and the invisible bond between all of us.
To do so, I researched metaphors for life, time, continuation, and the bonds between us. While still keeping in mind the importance of showcasing the works. I eventually chose ‘Garden of life’ as plants incapsulates vitality which is ‘life”, and a garden filled with branches can represent the bonds between us.
Mood of the space:
The overall mood is inspired by a blend of futurism and biophilia, adding a more modern spin on garden-like visuals.
Proposal 1 overall visuals (Draft)
The overall shape of the exhibition is in an infinity symbol, symbolizing the cycle of living even after death, through organ donation.
The panels and structures are all modular and foldable, ensuring easy mobility in case the exhibition needed to be setup in different locations.
This is a more concise and minimal set up of the exhibition as reference.
Proposal 2 overall visuals (Suggested design to client)
Some new requirements for the design included a space big enough to cater 500 chairs and visitors.
Zone 1 - Entrance of space
In zone 1, visitors are given a wristband and a guidebook.
The guidebook would consist of the zones, information and little facts about each mascot.
There will be a total of 200 wristbands available for the exhibition, and each have to be returned before collecting the goodie bags.
Zone 2 - Interactives for cornea and liver awareness
Zone 2 consists of information panels and introduction posters.
Mascots will serve as guides on what each visitor needs to do to play the interactives.
This zone brings awareness for cornea and liver through peepholes with curtains and LED projections.
Placing potted plants on the LED tables can show animations of plants growing as a means to represent regeneration.
This zone also consists of an interactive pond just for kids that follow along their parents or siblings.
Zone 2 - Interactives for heart awareness
Zone 2 also shows the heart zone where people can interact with the stethoscopes and listen in to their heart beats.
By using a motion sensor, i am able to connect it to the cages and reveal a pepper ghost projection of butterflies emerging.
An LED screen celebrating the LOF 10th anniversary movement will be played to bring out the aim of the exhibition to the visitors.
Zone 3 - Display of winning artworks and essays
Zone 3 is a display of current year artworks and essays, just to shine more light on the importance of the 10th year anniversary of LOF.
Messages for winners can be written on the plaques hanging from the nature canopy ceiling nets.
The kidney mascot will be instructing visitors the zone information.
Zone 4 - Seating arrangement around stage
Zone 4 is a view of the atrium and the main statue placed side by side on the stage so visitors can present with it.
The main statue symbolizes the personal connection between donors and recipient. That there is more than words can share. A deep embrace shows the warmth of giving life to another individual, the very aim of organ donation.
The atrium will have 250 chairs either side of the statue, creating 500 chairs in total.
Zone 5 - Walkway with more display of essay and artwork winners

Zone 6 - Goody bag collection and report card consisting of information of LOF
Zone 6 is the exit of the space, where visitors tap their wristbands to receive “report cards” about their corresponding mascots.
This zone also consists of displays for gifts that visitors can bring back in their goodie tote bags.
Thank you for viewing my project.
