(Un)plugged:重新定义飞机Workspace-0
(Un)plugged: Blurring the lines between deep work and autonomous relaxation.
(Un)plugged" goes beyond being a mere means of aerial transportation; it proposes a 'hyper-connected workspace' where the transition between work and rest occurs seamlessly during flight. Amidst the rising demand for premium aviation and increasing business expenditure, we aim to establish a new standard for 'rational premium' consumption—filling the gap between the limitations of economy class and the high costs of business class.
(Un)plugged:重新定义飞机Workspace-3
To overcome existing class constraints and provide high-efficiency workspaces at a reasonable price, the introduction of hybrid premium cabins has become a central engine for market expansion and an essential strategy for airlines to maximize their profit margins.
Based on a foundation of Hyper-Connectivity, we provide an environment where the boundaries between productivity and relaxation fluidly dissolve throughout long-distance travel.
(Un)plugged:重新定义飞机Workspace-6
Not just low cost, but high value. We target the ‘Borderless Worker,’ a new traveler class pursuing a rational yet premium journey.
As the centerpiece of our hybrid premium cabin, the (Un)plugged Lounge is a strategic space that transcends the concept of a mere rest area; it offers the perfect equilibrium between being 'Plugged' (connected to work) and 'Unplugged' (disconnected for recovery). By embracing these binary opposites, we provide a flexible oasis tailored to the needs of long-haul business travelers in their 30s and 40s. While the phone booths and meeting rooms serve as high-efficiency hybrid zones, the lounge area functions as an emotional sanctuary—an antithesis to productivity that prioritizes pure relaxation.

(Un)plugged Lounge: Your Flexible Oasis" At the heart of the cabin lies the (Un)plugged Lounge, where fluid curves and diagonal flows guide you toward mental ease. It’s less about stiff luxury and more about the comfort of a familiar office pantry—a social ground for spontaneous conversation and effortless rest.
Plugged Zone: Engineered for Focus" The Plugged zone shifts gears into high productivity. Using linear geometry and a clean, 90-degree layout, this area mirrors a professional workspace. Meeting rooms and phone booths are positioned for direct access, sustaining the necessary focus and 'professional tension' required to deliver top-tier results during your flight.

"Design Philosophy and Material Innovation"
Moving beyond the conventional use of low-saturation brown tones, we have redefined Asiana’s identity by reinterpreting its heritage. Our aesthetic is a modern synthesis of Ivory, Green, and Brown, inspired by the traditional Saekdong and its nuanced Ogansaek palettes.
To ensure a premium user experience, all interior components are crafted from flame-retardant materials that adhere to rigorous cabin safety regulations. Furthermore, by implementing advanced sound-absorption technology, we guarantee a serene and focused atmosphere, effectively neutralizing the noise challenges of a shared cabin environment.

[1] The journey of (Un)plugged begins in this corridor. The functional arrangement on both sides of the straight corridor, combined with the Korean-inspired flow of light across the ceiling, transforms the boredom of a long-haul flight into creative tension. Now, flight time is no longer a mere wait, but a precious asset where your career continues.
[2] We determined that the corridor leading into the work-oriented 'Plugged' space must maintain a brighter and more refreshing illuminance than standard cabins for productivity and efficiency. To achieve this, we utilized Barrisol lighting across the entire ceiling, creating a spatial reversal from a closed cabin aisle to an immersive office. The Barrisol incorporates a Hanji (Korean paper) texture to inherit Asiana’s brand asset, 'Korean Aesthetics.' The delicate Hanji texture revealed in the shot above softly filters the high 5,000K illuminance light, reducing visual fatigue while providing Korean warmth and a sense of psychological openness within the high-tech cabin environment.

[3] The 'Plugged' zone, which marks the transition from rest mode to work mode in private seating, was designed based on efficiency and rationality. The straight corridor starting from the entrance and the vertical/horizontal layout compress the user's movement into the shortest distance, providing an environment where immediate task response is possible even during flight. The repetitive linear pattern of the phone booths lined up along the edges of the aircraft adds a neat sense of rhythm to the space. This intuitively reveals the design intention to overcome the physical limitations of the cabin and implement 'rational premium,' helping users experience peak immersion the moment they enter the booth, separated from the public space.

[4], [5] The furniture inside the phone booths incorporates Ogansaek (intermediate colors), which is a modern reinterpretation of Asiana’s brand heritage, Saekdong. This refined color palette, rooted in traditional Korean aesthetics, provides users with emotional stability and grants a unique identity to the cabin space. A dimmable lighting system is introduced, allowing users to adjust the illuminance to the optimal level for their specific needs. The phone booth doors feature transparent glass with a black gradation treatment, maintaining a sense of openness while perfectly protecting the user's privacy from the outside.
[6] All interior furniture and walls are finished with flame-retardant and sound-absorbing materials that meet aviation safety standards.

[7] After finishing work in the independent phone booth, turning your gaze to the opposite side brings you face-to-face with the meeting room occupying the center of the aircraft. This layout, where individual focus (Phone Booth) and team collaboration (Meeting Room) spaces organically face each other across the corridor, demonstrates the design intention to establish a perfect business ecosystem identical to an office, even during flight.
(Un)plugged:重新定义飞机Workspace-29
[9] To rationally utilize the limited width of the aircraft's center, we adopted a layout where the entrances of the two meeting rooms face different corridors. This prevents traffic congestion and maximizes space efficiency.
[10] Upon entering the meeting room, four seats fixed to the floor face a sturdy table to maximize space utilization. This ensures user safety even in special cabin environments such as turbulence, while providing a high-density, face-to-face environment where users can fully focus on their ideas within the limited area.

[12], [13]The interior of the meeting room is designed with a more refined tone and manner than the phone booths to enhance work immersion. The ceiling features the same Hanji-textured Barrisol as the corridor to maintain unity, providing a soft, Korean light that offsets the cabin's sense of enclosure and ensuring uniform illuminance that minimizes visual fatigue. In particular, only two restrained point colors selected from the redefined Ogansaek are applied to the furniture to reduce visual distraction and create a calm atmosphere for focused conversation. Functionally, it is equipped with a meeting TV and an electronic whiteboard for efficient information sharing, perfectly replicating a physical office environment within the cabin. Additionally, an indirect lighting system is built into the floor molding, allowing users to variably adjust the mood according to the nature or topic of the meeting, adding emotional flexibility to the functional workspace.
(Un)plugged:重新定义飞机Workspace-35
[14] Serving as the center of the cabin and a true "hub" for relaxation, the Unplugged Lounge is designed entirely in the language of emotion. In contrast to the strict linear pathways of the Plugged zone that emphasized efficiency, the lounge uses soft curves and diagonal guides, allowing users to experience a transition where psychological tension is released the moment they enter the space.
[15] At the center of the lounge, entered through a curved sequence, angled bar tables intersect to form the axis of the space. Aiming for the comfort of a familiar pantry rather than private luxury, the space proposes a community-centered emotional environment. Through simple formal beauty—stripped of unnecessary decoration—and a flexible circulation plan, users can set aside the stress of work and enjoy emotional leisure during long-haul flights.
(Un)plugged:重新定义飞机Workspace-38
[16] The bar table at the heart of the lounge is equipped with a coffee machine, a carefully curated selection of desserts, and a neat built-in waste bin, providing a comfortable and autonomous environment akin to a sophisticated urban office pantry. In particular, circular cup holders designed for turbulence help users secure their drinks safely and focus entirely on conversation. Here, users can flexibly expand business relationships through light "coffee talk" or recharge their energy for the next period of immersion by letting go of work stress and taking a complete rest.
[17] At one end of the bar table, wooden shelves are placed to emphasize a warm texture, while a digital signage system on the opposite side serves as an art wall that provides real-time flight information or changes the space's atmosphere, offering visual enjoyment.
(Un)plugged:重新定义飞机Workspace-41
[18] Low-saturation sofas and chairs are arranged along the aircraft windows around the bar to secure visual openness. Circular rugs placed beneath the furniture define individual relaxation zones, psychologically separating each area within the vast cabin. All furniture utilizes flame-retardant wood veneers and a palette of ivory and brown extracted from Ogansaek to deliver restrained warmth, and all pieces are firmly fixed to the floor for safety.
[19] Downlights installed along the black lines of the ceiling serve as guidelines that naturally lead the user's footsteps. All areas except for the pathways and the bar table are treated with indirect lighting to reduce eye fatigue. Specifically, the walls covering the windows feature two layers of projected lighting, offsetting the cabin’s inherent sense of enclosure and adding a visual point that provides depth to the space.
