Exterior Renovation for a Residential House on Blagodatnaya St.
The client invited us to the project when the concrete frame of the house was already in place. At that stage, they weren’t fully satisfied with the original façade solutions proposed by the initial architect and wanted to revisit the layout of each floor.
One of the key challenges was a balcony entrance positioned directly beside the bed’s headboard. The client chose to remove it, leaving the balcony without functional access — which opened up an opportunity for a new design feature. I proposed turning this space into a striking green zone. To keep it practical, we designed an automatic irrigation system for natural plants, considering the limited accessibility, and also prepared an alternative version with artificial greenery.
My goal was to create a cohesive and contemporary façade without changing the building’s shape. To achieve this, I wrapped the entire second floor with a slatted aluminum system, selecting a color and texture that mimic natural wood. I also introduced a light-toned porcelain cladding as the main façade material and developed a modern layout pattern for its application.
For contrast, a dark gray — almost black — porcelain tile was added, creating a balanced and elegant combination with the lighter surfaces. The retaining walls of the house and garage were intentionally left as raw concrete to preserve their natural character.
To highlight the architectural geometry, linear lighting was added along the perimeter of the house and surrounding walls, enhancing the form and creating a striking nighttime effect.
The project is now complete, and this is one of the rare cases where you can see photos of the finished building alongside the original visualizations. What do you think — did we manage to bring the design to life?
