Text description provided by the architects. Located in the neighborhood of Martínez, north of Buenos Aires and just meters from the Río de la Plata, a contemporary residence is developed within a subdivision landscaped by Carlos Thays on an old estate from the early 20th century. The presence of a large white eucalyptus tree defines the implantation and organizes the project, which is conceived as a volume that embraces an interior courtyard.
The house combines concrete, a metal structure, and aluminum enclosures, with interior wooden partitions. The structure is set back from the facade line and allows a thin concrete eave to incorporate screens between windows and columns, freeing the view and giving prominence to glass as the dominant element. This operation generates controlled transparency and a fluid relationship with the exterior.
On the ground floor, the living area opens to the park to the northwest and towards the central courtyard on its other sides. The courtyard is primarily linked to an aquarium intended for aquaculture, one of the inhabitants' hobbies.
On the upper level are the bedrooms, a study, a yoga space, and a skylight that frames the sky and vegetation. The ascending journey constructs a sequence of views that reinforce the connection with the natural surroundings.
The perforated volume allows for the growth of the existing tree. The result is a house that integrates domestic life, well-being, and nature, offering its inhabitants—two professionals—a refuge at the boundary between the city and the riverside landscape.
