Project Concept

The Kindergarten and Daycare facility is considered one of the very first locations that a young kid visits in their young age, which gives it great importance because it would affect their earliest perception, creativity and growth throughout their entire life. The uniqueness of the project location allows it to become a catalyst for urban and social development, due to being surrounded by two main corridors ,while being located in the heart of a fresh new development area in Mati 1 neighborhood. This project aims to provide comfort, security and protection, privacy and functionality for using the kids. The First driver for the concept is to create a special introvert universe for children, that contrasts with the rigidity and sharpness found in the adults world outside. This is achieved using double-skins , inner and outer skins, for the building in the main kids rooms. The outer skin geometryis rectilinear and colored white or greyscale colors, while the inner skin geometry has curved corners and are colored with vivid colors.The outside of the building reflects rigidity and strictness in the adults world , while internally, the main kids spaces are provided with multiple features that reflect the smoothness ,colorfulness and freedom. The second driver for the concept is the sun orientation , this is achieved using a recti-lnear grid that maximizes the spaces perimeter exposed to the south direction in order to benefit for passive heating and lighting of the building, since Pristina is specialized by cold climate. The sun also plays an important role in the design of playgrounds orientation, shading and even the design of some special games for the kids.
