About

Stone Fortress Residence is a brutalist house for a strong-spirited and successful owner. It is a fortress-house, a country family estate where strength of character is combined with comfort and security.

The house is located in a picturesque area of the Leningrad region, in the village of Zerkalny, Vyborg district, directly on the shore of Lake Zerkalnoye. The plot occupies approximately one hectare and is rich in coniferous forest, predominantly pine trees.

The total area of the house is 1,355 square meters. The enclosed area of the house is 663 square meters, while the area of open terraces and balconies on the first and second floors reaches 692 square meters.

Дом Скала — это брутальный дом для хозяина, сильного духом и успешного человека. Это дом-крепость, загородное семейное поместье, в котором сила характера сочетается с уютом и защищенностью.

Дом расположен в живописном месте Ленинградской области, в поселке Зеркальный Выборгского района, прямо на берегу озера Зеркальное. Участок занимает порядка одного гектара и богат хвойным лесом, преимущественно соснами.

Общая площадь дома составляет 1355 квадратных метров. При этом закрытая площадь помещений дома равна 663 квадратным метрам, а площадь открытых террас и балконов первого и второго этажей достигает 692 квадратных метра.

Construct solution

The construct system of the house is a frame-monolithic type with a foundation made of a monolithic reinforced concrete slab. The vertical structures are represented by monolithic reinforced concrete columns and monolithic reinforced concrete partition walls.

Structurally, the house is divided into three parts connected by expansion joints. This engineering solution is visually accentuated by dividing the facade into sections using wall blocks made of stone panels.

Конструктивная схема дома — каркасно-монолитная с основанием из монолитной железобетонной плиты. Вертикальные конструкции представлены монолитными железобетонными колоннами и монолитными железобетонными простенками.

Конструктивно дом разделен на три части, соединенные между собой с помощью деформационных швов. Данное инженерное решение визуально обыгрывается делением фасада на части с помощью стеновых блоков из каменных плит.

Placement of the house and site infrastructure

The placement of the house on the site is determined by the existing topography and the preserved green spaces: the building is situated on an exposed section of the site, which required minimal tree removal. In addition to the main house, the compound is planned to include a security house, a guest house, a summer kitchen, a bath complex, a sports hall building, a boat garage-pier, as well as a chapel. Furthermore, a network of pathways has been designed across the site, connecting all the buildings together.

Посадка дома на участке обусловлена сложившимся рельефом и существующими зелеными насаждениями: строение размещено на оголенном фрагменте участка, что потребовало минимальной вырубки деревьев. Помимо главного дома, на участке в составе комплекса строений планируется разместить дом охраны, гостевой дом, летнюю кухню, банный комплекс, здание зала для занятий спортом, пирс-гараж для лодки, а также часовню. Кроме того, на участке запроектирована сеть дорожек, объединяющих между собой все строения.

Architectural identity and connection with nature

The image of the house is developed in close reference to the surrounding nature — to the vertical lines of towering pine trees and the rocky outcrops of the terrain. This is reflected in the facades, which emphasize vertical elements (partition walls) made of suspended stone panels. Most of the stone panels have a smooth, polished surface. However, in the central part of the house — the entrance portal — natural stone with a rough, broken surface is used, serving as the main focal point of the entire facade.

Образ дома разработан с привязкой к окружающей природе — к вертикалям корабельных сосен и участкам рельефа из скальных пород. Это нашло отражение в фасадах с акцентом на вертикальные элементы-простенки, выполненные из навесных каменных плит. Большая часть каменных плит имеет обработанную шлифованную поверхность. Однако в центральной части дома, в зоне входного портала, используется натуральный камень с рваной поверхностью, который является главным акцентом всего фасада.

Glazing, roofing, and entrance area

Large expanses of glazing on the facade serve as an open format for merging with the surrounding nature, and a roof lantern is also provided. The entrance to the house is organized through a central hall that leads to an inner courtyard, symbolizing the unification of the exterior and interior spaces of the property. The roof of the house is flat, with an internal drainage system.

Большие фрагменты остекления фасада дома служат открытым форматом объединения с окружающей природой, также предусмотрен фонарь в кровле. Вход в дом организован через центральный холл с выходом во внутренний двор, что символизирует объединение внешнего и внутреннего пространства участка. Кровля дома — плоская, с внутренним водостоком.

First floor: common area

The first floor contains the common area, which includes a kitchen-great room with a fireplace zone, spa facilities with access to an outdoor pool, guest rooms, as well as garage spaces. In the kitchen area, the design includes an open summer kitchen on the terrace with a built-in outdoor kitchen system. The total area of the first floor premises is approximately 440 square meters.

На первом этаже расположена общая зона, которая включает в себя кухню-зал с каминной зоной, помещения СПА-зоны с выходом к открытому бассейну, гостевые комнаты, а также помещения гаража. В зоне размещения кухни проектом предусмотрена открытая летняя кухня на террасе со встроенной системой уличной кухни. Общая площадь помещений первого этажа составляет порядка 440 квадратных метров.

Second floor: private owner's zone

The second floor is a quiet zone dedicated to the homeowner. It includes a master bedroom, children's rooms, a room with a fireplace area, a home cinema for watching films, as well as a study with a separate access to the garage area via a hidden staircase. Each room on the second floor has its own exit to a terrace or balcony. The total area of the second floor premises is approximately 223 square meters.

На втором этаже расположена тихая зона для владельца дома. Здесь находятся мастер-спальня, детские комнаты, помещение с каминной зоной, кинозал для просмотра фильмов, а также кабинет с отдельным выходом в зону гаража через скрытую лестницу. Каждое помещение второго этажа имеет собственный выход на террасу или балкон. Общая площадь помещений второго этажа составляет порядка 223 квадратных метров.

Basement level and internal circulation

The basement level contains technical and utility rooms, with a total area of approximately 75 square meters. Circulation between the levels of the house is provided by two staircases: a main open staircase located in the great room area, and a second, concealed service staircase that connects the first, second, and basement floors.

На уровне подвального этажа размещены технические и хозяйственные помещения, общая площадь которых составляет порядка 75 квадратных метров. Транзит между уровнями дома осуществляется с помощью двух лестниц: парадной открытой лестницы, размещенной в зоне зала, и второй, скрытой технологической лестницы, которая объединяет первый, второй и подвальный этажи.
