A good garden does not begin with a beautiful image. It begins with decisions. This project did not start with a visualization. I did not begin with the color of hydrangeas or the mood of a sunset.
I began with questions:
- how should this space function on a daily basis?
- where will the shade be in July at 4:00 PM?
- how should movement be guided so that it feels natural rather than forced?
- what remains for 15 years, and what lasts only for one season?
Decisions precede aesthetics.
The circulation layout defines the composition.
The scale of the building determines the rhythm of planting.
Material dictates proportion. Only then does the image appear.
In this project, the key elements were:
- a clear axial structure
- layering of greenery (height, texture, seasonality)
- the relationship between the house volume and the garden
- material consistency of pavements and walls
- light – designed with sunset in mind, not only midday
What you see at the end is the result of many decisions made earlier. Sometimes invisible, but always consistent.
Because a good garden is not an accident. It is a system.
