A town's resilience is often found at its origins.

For Plombières-les-Bains, this origin is water.

Plombières-les-Bains is a historic spa town defined by its hot and cold water sources, yet disconnected from it. Our competition entry, Plombières Ré-Générée, proposes weaving three "threads" together (Blue, Red & Green) to revitalize the urban fabric.

My personal focus was the development of the "Red Thread" concept: a geothermal culture hub that brings together the Roman past with sustainable energy use. Additionally, I contributed the masterplan and the concept diagrams.

Revealing the Blue Thread: We liberate the Augronne from its subterranean channel to transform it into the town's living artery.

Activating the Red Thread: We harness the town's unique geothermal energy to create an all-season cultural hub.

Establishing the Green Thread: A new continuous green corridor forms the backbone of Plombières' open green spaces.

The Red Thread: A Thermal Heart for Plombières

The Red Thread activates Plombières-les-Bains' most unique asset: its geothermal heritage. We channel the heat into a glass pavilion, the town's new living room, which overlooks the ruins of the Roman baths. This creates a vibrant, year-round social hub, honours the town's history, and provides an sustainable model for sustainable heritage.
