Holy Trail
Displayed below are screenshots and a video of one of my finished projects called Holy Trail. This project isn't technically a completed game, there are no objectives/storyline and its sole purpose is to display my knowledge on 3D Environmental Design. The level consists of a lit up church accompanied by a graveyard with a surrounding gate. Along with a pond of animated fish surrounded by a forest under the bright moonlight.
Created and designed by Jordan Harris using Unreal Engine 4
Blueprints/Created Assets
After designing the environment, one of the first blueprints I made was a candle so I could add better lighting on the inside of the church.
I attached a point light to the candle so it would generate light and then attached a particle system to capture the lit candle look.
Below is the event graph to create the candle flicker to add more realism in game. Followed by the timeline with random key frames to simulate a moving moving light.
Below is a screenshot of the created flame material for the particle system. I used a texture sample to apply the image of the flame and then added a texture coordinate and applied a panner node to create the moving texture.
I then applied the material to particle system, I changed the spawn rate to a 2 and removed the initial velocity to create that still moving flame.
I applied the same method from the candle to a chandelier and a candle stand.

The last blueprint I want to show is the Moon asset that I applied to the world.
I used a sphere mesh and applied the moon material and then applied a mesh plane with the glow material to create a lifelike moon glow.
Below is the created moon material, I added a rotation to the texture sample, applied a glow crank to capture the luminescent look, and created image saturation along with an edge saturation to give it more life.
