This project reimagines the traditional majlis as a contemporary communal retreat, seamlessly integrated with the local Saudi landscape. Drawing inspiration from vernacular forms and desert living, the design employs locally sourced stone and textured plaster to root the architecture in its native context. The façade features horizontally striated brickwork and warm timber accents that echo the tones of the surrounding sands, creating rich shadows that shift throughout the day. Drought-resistant planting and carefully composed native gardens weave around the built forms, blurring the boundaries between inside and out. In doing so, the project embraces the natural environment, fostering a harmonious dialogue between architecture, material, and landscape — a modern interpretation of gathering spaces deeply tied to place.
