流水别墅丨美国宾夕法尼亚丨Frank Lloyd Wright-0
Following the recent completion of renovations on American architect Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic Fallingwater house, Dezeen has rounded up six other complete and in-progress restorations of Wright's work.
Groups such as the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation are both involved in maintaining and preserving the works of US architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who died in 1959 after redefining American architecture.
Throughout the years, this has included legal battles, preservation projects and transporting entire projects across state lines.
Read on for six conservation projects keeping the iconic architect's legacy alive.

Envelope issues, such as leaks, were recently addressed after a three-year conservation project at Frank Lloyd Wright's famed Fallingwater house in Western, PA.
The project included patching exterior and interior water damage, one of several results of "Wright's decision not to install through-wall flashing," Architectural Preservation Studio president Pamela Jerome, who worked on the project, told Dezeen upon the completion of work.

J Willis Hughes House, Mississippi
The Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson recently purchased the nearby Fountainhead house, or J Willis Hughes House, with plans to update the property for visitors to explore.
The museum said it was inspired by other institutions opening Wright's properties and even moving them across state lines to new locations, such as the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas, in its 2014 acquisition of the Bachman-Wilson House.

Kalita Humphreys Theater, Texas
Architecture studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro was selected to renovate the Kalita Humphreys Theater in Dallas, Texas, in 2022. Wright's only standalone theatre, it has fallen into disrepair.
The studio planned on updating the theatre to current standards while restoring design details of the original. As of now, it seems the project has been stalled, as the City of Dallas focuses on other priorities.

RW Lindholm House, Minnesota
One of the 1950s Usonian homes by Frank Lloyd Wright, the RW Lindholm House was picked up and moved from Minnesota to Pennsylvania.
The house was deconstructed in 2016 and shipped in pieces over 1,000 miles to the Pennsylvania site before it was reconstructed in its entirety, where it can now be visited.

Price Tower, Oklahoma
A local owner and The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy went head-to-head in a legal battle in 2024 over the "unapproved" sales of items from Wright's only skyscraper project in Oklahoma.
As of earlier this year, the cases were settled according to local news, while a new owner is planning a major renovation.
