Text description provided by the architects. The trapezoidal shape of the land, located in a vacation condominium near São Paulo, guided the formal decision of the Casa VLP floor plan. The residence features a traditional division between the social block and the intimate block, separated by a central circulation axis that begins at the entrance of the house. This entrance is marked by a wooden pergola, which indicates the path and invites the individual to enter.
The social block, to the right of the entrance, is square, while the intimate block has a longitudinal and more extensive shape. The division between the two blocks is also perceived through the design of the gabled roof, reminiscent of a traditional house design, which, however, is divided by a central void, thus providing more light and ventilation and visually breaking with the potential archetype of a single-family residence.
Both blocks have direct access to the outdoor area, which includes a swimming pool and a generous garden. The intimate block, comprised of both the bedrooms and service areas, also features staggered individual balconies and access to the side garden of the property, providing comfort and privacy to each bedroom, while also creating a more dynamic design for the fundamentally rectangular floor plan. Both the social balcony and the individual bedrooms have direct access to the central garden and pool, the main leisure area of the house.
The master suite has a privileged position, with a private balcony facing the back of the property and also a strategic window on the adjacent facade, allowing for a contemplative view of the pool area.
The construction structure of Casa VLP is made of concrete, with finishes predominantly featuring stone and wood. Stone is a striking element in the project, present in various forms, whether raw or treated, in the flooring, walls, and countertops. The frames, cabinets, ceiling of the social block, and loose furniture prioritize wood, bringing warmth and comfort to the spaces, along with a careful selection of fabrics and lighting.
Finally, the landscaping complements and enriches the volume and comfort of the house. One of the greatest challenges in developing the project was accommodating the extensive program requested by the clients, without compromising the spaciousness of the environments, considerable outdoor area, ventilation, and natural lighting.
