Text description provided by the architects. Complete refurbishment of an old Villa including a new extention, where only the original load bearing brickwork structure was maintained. The house is articulated around a semi open entrance corridor which divides the public part of the house, at a lower level, the level of the pool, from the private area where all bedrooms and bathrooms are located overlooking the garden. The total built area is 300 sqm plus a small independent guesthouse. All spaces were designed for slow-life and relaxation without any shrillness and based in the purity of materials.
The original structure distinguished in a less clear way the two volumes; therefore, the intervention has sought to lighten the central link of union in a way that both volumes gain power generating a more sculptural set.
The selected materials play in the same color range, in earth tones and with very natural textures for all the horizontal and vertical walls, involving a bare wood with a very natural protective treatment only in exterior carpentry and furniture. The continuity of the stone flooring seeks to connect the house with the exterior, especially in the daytime area, where the large glass windows allow the living area and kitchen to become a semi-open space, very appropriate for the climate of Marbella.
There are two elements outside the main volume, the garage, made of wooden paling and the guest house, attached to the boundary of the plot, which respects the aesthetics proposed in the rest of the set. These elements, all arranged around the pool, are the ones that finish articulating the landscaping and open spaces of the house resulting in a homogeneous and integrated global intervention in the environment and views.
