这个在鼓浪屿龙头路菜场边上的转角店面，曾经属于一个近百年前从事干货贸易的家族，如今它是福建风物“新四海”的新店。新四海的经营家族曾是鼓浪屿红利时代受益者，红利过去后，他们也是为数不多的愿意慢下来重新对“本地”细嚼慢咽的从业者。这几年他们培育了厚生林、林秉记、二三丛等完整性很高的品牌，而作为最早的“新四海”，则面临从早期旅游目的地的伴手礼店转向的处境。

This corner store on the side of the Longtou Road Market in Gulang Island once belonged to a family that engaged in dry goods trade nearly a hundred years ago. Now it is the new store of ” New Four Seas “, a brand of Fujian local products. The business family of New Four Seas was once a beneficiary of the prosperous era of Gulang Island. After the prosperity passed, they are among the few practitioners who are willing to slow down and savor the “local” in detail. In recent years, they have cultivated brands such as Houshenglin, Linbingji, and Er San Cong with high integrity. However, as the earliest ” New Four Seas “, it is now facing the situation of transforming from a souvenir shop for early tourists to something else.

这家店在设计之初，就抱持着“原本就在这里的样子”的想法，这不仅是对它曾经的拥有者的回溯，也是对这栋百年建筑及这个有着丰富生活史、曾被旅游商业的喧嚣笼罩如今逐渐复归平静的小岛的局部修缮，因此它抛弃了一家伴手礼店的范式。我们将L型的门面打开给街角，露出杂货铺的亲和力，将大大小小的陈列柜、玲琅满目的货品铺陈出来；在店铺内，我们增加了木质阁楼结构，一把线条简洁又有分量感的楼梯连接着它，这个阁楼像一个骨架，除了兼具储藏功能，也为这个几十平米小店增添了复杂度和趣味；渔网、贝壳、老青石和红砖像骨料一样糅进这个空间的材料界面中；四处搜罗来的桌椅、灯、器物和信笺，暗藏时间的痕迹，闽南和南洋的联结影影绰绰。

When this store was designed, the idea of “the way it was originally here” was held. This is not only a retrospection of its former owner, but also a partial renovation of this century-old building and this small island with a rich life history that was once shrouded in the hustle and bustle of tourism and commerce and is now gradually returning to tranquility. Therefore, it has abandoned the model of a souvenir shop. We opened the L-shaped storefront to the street corner, revealing the friendliness of a grocery store, and displayed the various display cabinets and a wide variety of goods. Inside the store, we added a wooden loft structure, and a simple yet substantial staircase connects it. This loft is like a framework, not only serving as storage but also adding complexity and interest to this small store of just a few dozen square meters. Fishing nets, shells, old bluestones and red bricks are mixed into the material interfaces of this space like aggregates. Tables, chairs, lamps, utensils and stationery collected from all over, with traces of time hidden within, hint at the connection between Fujian and Southeast Asia.

在我们为这家小店定制的一块玻璃牌匾“四海一家”的镜面反射中，这家崭新的“新四海”，更像是上世纪初船运路线上华人居住地上的很多小店，家和店不分，既是经营场所，又有店主的个人喜好和生活痕迹。在这个曾经和世界有着紧密连接的小岛上，一个小铺，既是和街坊邻里，也是同外部商业世界的连结，是世界也是社区生活的节点。

In the mirror reflection of the glass signboard “Four Seas as One” that we custom-made for this small store, this brand-new “New Four Seas” seems much like many small shops in the Chinese settlements along the shipping routes in the early 20th century, where home and store were indistinguishable, serving as both a business place and a reflection of the owner’s personal tastes and life. On this small island that once had close ties with the world, a small shop is not only a connection with the neighbors but also a link to the outside commercial world, a node of both the world and community life.
