阿尔多・罗西认为，建筑是人类集体记忆的载体；城市不仅是横向铺展的空间形态，更是纵向累积的时间记忆，一个城市，它首先是一个四维的记忆之城，其次再是三维的物质之城，在城市历史的自然更迭中，曾经存在过的城市未彻底消亡，而是通过场所，类型，纪念物等不易察觉的转换方式，将城市的记忆集体延续下去，一个城市，正是由于这样的记忆密码，与过去的时空血脉相连。

Aldo Rossi argues that architecture is the carrier of human collective memory. A city is not merely a horizontally spread spatial form, but a temporally accumulated memory. A city is first and foremost a four-dimensional city of memory, and then a three-dimensional city of materiality. In the natural evolution of urban history, the past does not vanish entirely; instead, it perpetuates collective urban memory through subtle transformations of place, type, and monuments. It is these memory codes that bind a city to its past time and space.

武汉延庆里作为百年里分建筑群，承载着江城的市井肌理与文化记忆。如何在文保约束下，让老建筑脱离静态保护，成为适配当代松弛社交的商业公共空间？如何让街巷烟火与酒馆氛围共生，实现里分建筑的当代活化？这是 YOUNG 本样设计本次探索的核心命题。

Century-old Yanqingli in Wuhan is a historic Lifen residential complex that carries the urban texture and cultural memory of the River City. Under the constraints of cultural relics protection, how to free historic buildings from static preservation and turn them into commercial public spaces suitable for contemporary relaxed socializing? How to integrate the street vitality with the bistro atmosphere and realize the contemporary revitalization of Lifen architecture? These are the core propositions explored by YOUNG Original Design in this project.

被时光封存的百年里分

Century-old Lifen, Sealed by Time

项目落址武汉百年历史里分 — 延庆里，片区完整留存着红砖黛瓦、青石板路的近代里分建筑肌理，作为武汉近代里分建筑的典型样本，兼具文保历史价值与市井烟火气息。于此打造硬米深夜酒馆，白日做茶、夜晚饮酒，以日间茶叙、深夜休憩、松弛社交、沉浸式街巷体验为核心特质。

Located in Yanqingli, a century-old historic Lifen quarter in Wuhan, the project preserves the intact texture of modern Lifen architecture with red bricks, dark tiles and bluestone roads. As a typical example of modern Lifen architecture in Wuhan, it boasts both historical conservation value and urban vitality. Hard Rice Late-Night Bistro here serves tea by day and wine by night, featuring daytime tea gatherings, late-night relaxation, casual socializing and immersive street experience.

改造前现状

Before the renovation

延庆里作为文保老里分，原始结构与立面需严格保护，加之巷道狭长封闭、传统格局固化，使街巷公共活力与当代酒馆的开放社交需求之间缺少有效的融合与衔接，呈现 “历史肌理完整却空间活力不足” 的状态。对于以深夜休憩、松弛社交为核心体验的酒馆而言，这种割裂更为显著。因此，本项目聚焦于在严守文保与适配年轻消费需求的双重前提下，重建百年里分街巷与酒馆空间的共生联结，激活老建筑的公共属性与沉浸式社交价值。

As a protected historic Lifen quarter, Yanqingli requires strict preservation of its original structure and facade. Coupled with the narrow and enclosed alleys and rigid traditional layout, there is a lack of effective integration between the public vitality of the streets and the open social demands of a contemporary bistro, resulting in a state of “intact historical texture but insufficient spatial vitality”. This disconnection is even more prominent for a bistro centered on late-night relaxation and casual socializing. Therefore, this project focuses on rebuilding the symbiotic connection between the century-old Lifen streets and the bistro space on the premise of strict cultural relics protection and adapting to young consumer demands, activating the public attributes and immersive social value of the historic building.

低干预更新・新旧共生

Low-Intervention Renewal · Coexistence of Old and New

YOUNG团队本次设计以「以空间承载里分记忆，以烟火唤醒老巷新生」为初心，秉持低干预、重原生、融街巷的核心策略，不破坏老建筑肌理，不强行改造结构，通过边界消融、材质对话、符号叙事，让百年里分从「历史标本」变为「活态社交场」，实现历史保护与当代使用的平衡。

With the original intention of “using space to carry Lifen memory and revitalizing old alleys with urban vitality”, the YOUNG team adheres to the core strategies of low intervention, respect for originality and integration with streets. Without damaging the historic building texture or forcibly altering the structure, the team transforms the century-old Lifen from a “historical specimen” into a “living social venue” through boundary dissolution, material dialogue and symbolic narration, balancing historical preservation and contemporary usage.

1）街巷界面重构：消融边界，让街巷融入空间

Street Interface Reconstruction: Dissolving Boundaries, Integrating Streets into Space

设计以延庆里原有巷道尺度为基底，践行「以旧修旧、肌理延续」原则，完整保留青红砖立面、拱门结构等历史元素，不干预街巷原有通行流线。酒馆界面贴合里分原生肌理，既服务经营使用，亦作为百年街巷的物理延伸供公众共享，行人可自由穿行停留，酒馆界面由此获得超越消费入口的城市公共属性，成为融入里分烟火的日常公共场域。

Based on the original alley scale of Yanqingli, the design follows the principle of “restoring the old with old materials and continuing the texture”, completely retaining historical elements such as blue and red brick facades and arch structures without interfering with the original traffic flow of the streets. The bistro interface fits the original texture of Lifen, serving both commercial operation and public sharing as a physical extension of the century-old streets. Pedestrians can walk and stay freely, making the bistro interface an urban public domain beyond a commercial entrance, and a daily public space integrated into the vitality of Lifen.

2）“边界消融 + 柔性围合”策略

“Boundary melting + Flexible enclosure” strategy

采用抬高木平台、竹植造景界定软性空间边界，在街巷与酒馆之间营造「可停留、不封闭」的半私密前场场域。该场域既服务于酒馆的日常经营，亦作为百年里分街巷的物理延伸空间，行人可自由驻足闲谈、感受里分烟火，既契合老里分「围而不合、开放共生」的原生文化，又激活自发性社交，让老巷道重归城市公共生活的核心载体。

Elevated wooden platforms and bamboo landscaping are adopted to define soft spatial boundaries, creating a semi-private front field between the street and the bistro that is “accessible but not enclosed”. This area serves daily operation of the bistro and acts as a physical extension of the century-old Lifen streets, where pedestrians can stop and chat freely to experience the vitality of Lifen. It conforms to the original culture of “enclosed but not isolated, open and symbiotic” in the old Lifen, activates spontaneous socializing, and returns the old alleys to the core carrier of urban public life.

3）无界氛围营造

Creating a Boundless Atmosphere

进一步弱化室内外界限，植入定制香氛装置以嗅觉记忆塑造空间辨识度，实现「街巷即空间，空间即街巷」的无界融合，让百年巷道成为承载城市公共生活的鲜活载体。卡座以清水混凝土为基底，搭配老木桌面、复古莱姆石地面与垂坠质感的布帘，以柔和弧度围合空间，平衡粗粝肌理与温润质感，让里分历史肌理与当代生活场景自然相融。

To further weaken the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces, a customized fragrance installation is introduced to shape spatial recognition through olfactory memory, realizing the boundless integration of “streets as space, space as streets” and turning the century-old alley into a vivid carrier of urban public life. The booths are based on fair-faced concrete, paired with old wooden tabletops, vintage limestone floors and draped fabric curtains. Soft curves enclose the space, balancing rough texture and warm tactility, and naturally integrating the historical texture of Lifen with contemporary living scenes.

4）界面功能升级

Interface Function Upgrade

外立面选用可伸缩手摇式金属结构雨棚，可自由收纳与展开，收起后即化作独立艺术装置，兼顾消防合规性与装置艺术观赏性；品牌标识融入雨棚布艺体系，实现实用功能与品牌视觉的一体化表达。

A hand-cranked retractable metal canopy is selected for the facade, which can be freely stored or unfolded. When retracted, it becomes an independent art installation, balancing fire compliance and artistic ornamental value. The brand identity is integrated into the canopy fabric system, realizing the integrated expression of practical functions and brand vision.

空间叙事营造：符号锚点，重塑记忆与体验

Spatial Narrative Creation: Symbolic Anchors, Reshaping Memory and Experience

YOUNG团队以凯文・林奇「标志元素构建城市记忆」理论为核心，用视觉符号激活空间记忆，打破老里分空间局限。

灯笼装置・纵向贯穿：砸穿二层楼板，让灯笼装置从三楼垂落至一楼，模数化阵列形成视觉核心；气流带动灯笼飘动，光影与红砖墙交织，打造沉浸式打卡场景，成为延庆里新的记忆锚点；

Based on Kevin Lynch’s theory that “symbolic elements construct urban memory”, the YOUNG team activates spatial memory with visual symbols to break the spatial limitations of the old Lifen.

Lantern Installation · Vertical Penetration: The second-floor slab is opened to allow the lantern installation to hang from the third floor to the first floor, forming a visual core with a modular array. Driven by air flow, the lanterns flutter, and light and shadow interweave with the red brick walls, creating an immersive photo spot and a new memory anchor for Yanqingli.

空间以爬坡式动线重塑垂直体验，将通行转化为沉浸式空间事件。现浇混凝土楼梯置于酒馆核心界面处、串联分层空间，螺旋动线让“拾级而上”成为精心设计的空间仪式。楼梯兼具交通与视觉引导功能，手工打磨金属扶手、预留脱缝的坡道墙体，强化二层空间的可达性与视觉渗透；沿途混凝土灯具与整体材质呼应，赋予空间浓郁的叙事性与沉浸感。

The space reshapes the vertical experience with a sloping circulation, turning passage into an immersive spatial event. The cast-in-place concrete staircase is placed at the core interface of the bistro to connect the layered spaces, and the spiral circulation makes “climbing up” a carefully designed spatial ritual. The staircase serves both traffic and visual guidance. Hand-polished metal handrails and reserved separation joints on the ramp walls enhance the accessibility and visual penetration of the second floor. Concrete lamps along the way echo the overall material language, endowing the space with rich narrative and immersion.

YOUNG团队设计打造多元座位体系，精准适配全场景社交需求：以超长实木主桌、围合软包卡座为核心，搭配临窗休憩位、阶梯落坐区等多尺度布局，既满足白日独茶、放空休憩的独处需求，也适配好友小聚、围坐畅聊的社交场景，实现 “独处不孤单，相聚不局促” 的松弛空间体验。

The YOUNG team has created a diversified seating system to precisely meet the needs of all-scenario socializing: centered on an extra-long solid wood main table and enclosed soft-packed booths, matched with multi-scale layouts such as window-side seats and stepped seating areas. It satisfies both the needs of solo tea drinking and relaxation during the day, and social scenes of friends gathering and chatting, realizing a relaxed spatial experience of “not feeling lonely when alone, not feeling cramped when gathering”.

材质语言表达：本真质感，对话历史与当代

Material Language Expression: Authentic Texture, Dialogue between History and Contemporary

以「材质本真、少修饰、重肌理」为原则，用材质碰撞完成新旧对话，还原空间原生状态。

Adhering to the principle of “authentic materials, minimal decoration, emphasis on texture”, the design completes the dialogue between old and new through material collision and restores the original state of the space.

基底材质

Base Materials

以复古红砖为空间底色，搭配灰色混凝土盒子，温润肌理与冷冽简约形成对比，延续历史意象、注入当代气质；在地面材料上采用多材质分层语汇，延续里分街巷的原生质感：公共区域铺设无缝现浇水泥，拼接石材，强化空间整体感；私密休憩区铺设 3.5 公分厚老木地板，还原复古原生氛围。以此削弱室内外界限，使室内空间成为里分街巷烟火的自然延续，而非封闭的消费容器。

Vintage red bricks serve as the spatial base, paired with gray concrete boxes. The warm texture contrasts with the cold minimalism, continuing the historical imagery and injecting contemporary temperament. The ground adopts a multi-material layered vocabulary to continue the original texture of Lifen streets: seamless cast-in-place cement and spliced stones are laid in public areas to enhance spatial integrity; 3.5cm-thick old wooden floors are laid in private relaxation areas to restore the vintage original atmosphere. This weakens the indoor-outdoor boundary, making the indoor space a natural extension of the vitality of Lifen streets rather than a closed commercial container.

细节统一

Unified details

落地灯、核心柜体采用现场浇筑混凝土，与整体材质语言呼应；保留建筑原始结构痕迹，再利用施工遗留石材，增添自然野趣。

Floor lamps and core cabinets are made of on-site cast-in-place concrete, echoing the overall material language. The original structural traces of the building are retained, and leftover stones from construction are reused to add natural wildness.

顺势而为，道法自然的东方哲学

Going with the Flow: Eastern Philosophy of Following Nature

面对文保建筑的改造约束，设计秉持「顺势而为」理念，不刻意破坏、不强行改造：最大程度保留建筑原始顶面结构，摒弃繁复装饰，完整留存岁月痕迹；所有设计嵌入现有结构，实现「低干预更新」，让设计服务于老建筑，而非改造建筑；

Faced with the renovation constraints of protected historic buildings, the design upholds the concept of “going with the flow”, without deliberate damage or forced alteration: Retain the original ceiling structure of the building to the maximum extent, abandon complicated decorations, and completely preserve traces of time; All designs are embedded into the existing structure to realize “low-intervention renewal”, making the design serve the historic building rather than transforming it.

空间价值：从商业消费到城市公共活化

Spatial Value: From Commercial Consumption to Urban Public Revitalization

硬米深夜酒馆并非单纯的消费空间，而是延庆里非标商业的实践样本：以白日做茶、夜晚饮酒的全时段模式，融合烟火气与松弛感，成为全时段年轻化社交目的地；承担文化传承功能，让老里分的城市记忆通过空间被感知、被延续；平衡历史保护与商业运营，为城市老建筑更新提供「可参考的松弛案例」。

Hard Rice Late-Night Bistro is not merely a commercial space, but a sample of non-standard commercial practice in Yanqingli. With the all-day mode of “serving tea by day and wine by night”, it integrates vitality and relaxation, becoming an all-day youthful social destination. It undertakes the function of cultural inheritance, allowing the urban memory of the old Lifen to be perceived and continued through space. It balances historical preservation and commercial operation, providing a “referable relaxed case” for the renewal of urban historic buildings.

结语

Conclusion

百年延庆里的更新，从来不是推倒重来，而是新旧共生、快慢相融。YOUNG 本样设计以低干预的笔触，让老建筑肌理与当代生活对话，让街巷烟火与酒馆氛围交融。硬米深夜酒馆，白日品茶、夜晚饮酒，既是全时段休憩社交场，也是武汉里分文化的活态载体 —— 在更新中延续记忆，在共生中焕发新生，让百年里分真正活在当下。

The renewal of the century-old Yanqingli is never about demolition and reconstruction, but about the coexistence of old and new, and the integration of fast and slow. With low-intervention strokes, YOUNG Original Design lets the texture of historic buildings dialogue with contemporary life, and blends street vitality with bistro atmosphere. Hard Rice Late-Night Bistro, serving tea by day and wine by night, is both an all-day relaxation and social venue and a living carrier of Wuhan Lifen culture — continuing memory in renewal, glowing with new life in symbiosis, and making the century-old Lifen truly live in the present.
