The project envisages the recovery of all the underground parts of the old Delle Alpi stadium, including the pitch area.
The stadium capacity is 41.507 people and is characterised by large entrances and an absence of architectural barriers. The service areas are located under the stands and include: access to the stadium, changing rooms, relaxation areas, tunnel leading onto the pitch.
The complex is operative seven days a week thanks to the presence of a 34,000 square metre commercial area – with a shopping gallery, shopping centre and DIY shop. There are also 30,000 square metres of gardens, flower beds and Parking spaces for 4,000 cars.
The roof of the stands, designed in a wind tunnel, is inspired by the profile of the wings of an aeroplane: a very light structure, made of a partially transparent and partially opaque membrane to allow a perfect view of the pitch during the day and at night, and ensuring that the pitch receives enough light for the grass to grow.
Giugiaro’s work is recognizable in the stadium profile and particularly in the curve that joins the roof to the exterior walls and in the design of the two masts. The latter have two functions, providing support to the roof and mimicking the profile of the mountains surrounding the city. The exterior wall claddings, replicated in all the structures surrounding the arena, reaffirms the cohesion and continuity of the whole urban area concerned.
Pininfarina has designed all the internal areas of the stadium - flooring, lighting, furniture, boxes and lounges - as well as the seats in the stands. The seats for the spectators, in particular, were designed as pixels of a huge photograph, which portray past glories of Juventus when the stadium is empty.
Designed by Camerana, the Juventus Museum is aimed at both Juventus fans, who can savor the joys that the winning tradition of Juventus has offered them, and for a wider public, which through the history of the company can relive that of the country.
