The Award Winning Private Penthouse K is situated atop Dubai’s Index Tower and is set over three-floors with uninterrupted views of Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa. Original layouts did not meet the client’s needs so spaces were stripped to their structural shell on each level.
ANARCHITECT was given the freedom to create a sequence of spatial experiences that flow horizontally across each floor and interconnect vertically through use of material and meticulous detail within the staircase design. The organisation of the residence was segregated into lifestyles of living, private quarters and leisure associated to each level as one ascends the property.
With a residence of this scale it is important to consider how the spaces and flow will be used by the private individuals living day-to-day, when accommodating guests and when entertaining large gatherings for dinner and social events. ANARCHITECT planned the layouts of the residence to accommodate these multiple conditions by creating flexible spaces that are divided by sliding walls, pivoting frameless doors and bespoke joinery screening, an antithesis to traditionally articulating enclosed rooms that are isolated when not in use.
The timeless detail of the spaces and concise palette of stone, timber and custom metalwork creates a calm and rich modern residence. A canvas upon which the Client effortlessly layers their personality due to the rigorous design fundamentals embedded into the project.
A wide range of Salvatori stones and textures were used, including Lithoverde® to accentuate the geometry of the spaces, and Crema d’Orcia Bamboo for its ability to play with light and shadow.
One of the design choices we particularly liked was that of Infinito for the floor around the Jacuzzi (which was made from cut-to-size Bianco Carrara Lithoverde®, no less). With its grooved texture, Infinito makes for an ideal non-slip surface in wet areas.
