融合马来文化的美食空间——吉姆马来西亚美食摊

Jim’s Malaysia is a hawker style kiosk inspired by the Malaysian Nyonya culture and its food. The aesthetics of the Malaysian Nyonya culture is portrayed through architectural elements such as lattice windows, timber balustrades and patterned tiles. These details are commonly found in a typical Nyonya house in Malaysia.

Patrons are warmly welcomed by various hanging objects such as bamboo sieves, fans, pots, lunch boxes and flasks which are authentic items found in the Nyonya era. Unique patterns, geometric forms and colour of the overall kiosk have been derived from these household objects to fortify the concept. Patrons are also greeted with watercolour graphics along the walls which has been integrated to mirror the business’ nature of hand making their food to serve patrons.

The overall mood is defined by the generally muted colours, traditional Chinese red and warm materials. Being surrounded by other kiosks in the Hawker Lane, festoon light bulbs have been installed to further enrich the traditional nature of a Malaysian Nyonya household as well as making the space unique.
