Laura Fulmine in the apartment
We’re pleased to announce a newly-curated space by interior stylist and set designer Laura Fulmine at Television Centre, commissioned by The Modern House, and currently for sale.
The one-off installation occupies a three-bedroom duplex penthouse designed by London and Oslo-based architects Haptic, who installed an understated, muted scheme, driven by its use of warm, natural materials and an open-plan layout.
The flexible space has proved the perfect canvas for Laura’s bolder interior expression, for which she has worked with world-renowned galleries, designers and retailers like SEEDS Gallery, Mint, Rose Uniacke, Gallery FUMI, Béton Brut, De Padova, Dello Studio, The Invisible Collection and more.
The eclectic yet harmonious interior incorporates fine design from the last 90 years, beginning with Marcel Breuer’s ‘Delfi’ table – acquired from Béton Brut – a monolithic Rationalist work of solid marble. Laura has also showcased the latest in contemporary design with names like Dello Studio, Faye Toogood and Voukenas Petrides, represented by Gallery FUMI and whose ‘Ear Chair’ forms a sculpture-like addition to the main living area.
In fact, an art-like handling of sculptural furniture, textiles and artwork creates a gallery-feeling vibe, in which the individual forms and materials of each piece are pronounced. “At first, the pieces appear as artworks,” reflects Laura, adding that “it’s only at second glance you realise that they all exist as functional elements, creating a totally different living experience.”
As Prime Appraisals Specialist James Klonaris explains, Laura was a natural choice for us when deciding who would assemble the interior. “Laura has more than mere consistency when it comes to styling. She bridges the design world between creatives, champions and patrons and severs boundaries between art, design, fashion and lifestyle. Laura has an exceptional eye and an ability to pair the unobvious to beautiful effect,” James says.
“As a stylist and interior designer I am constantly exposed to interesting showrooms, galleries, and fascinating artists work, yet it is very rare that I am able to choose all of my favourite pieces and place them into one sublime interior. Working on this project allowed me to explore so many different aspects of design through the decades, choosing both modern and vintage pieces to sit together in a unique and unexpected way.
“I have curated and developed the apartment as if it were a gallery hosted in someone’s home. Each room will take the viewer on a different journey, all working effortlessly within the subtle backdrop of Haptics sleek architectural framework,” says Laura.
To celebrate the completion of the project, The Modern House threw a launch party in the apartment last Thursday, bringing together gallerists, designers and artists involved in the project, as well as names from the architecture, interior and design communities.
The installation will last until 24th May. To see it for yourself, get in touch to arrange a viewing.
