Hickok Cole Architects has created a sense of space for Gather’s Short Pump coworking offices located in Richmond, Virginia.

The design for Gather, a co-working space in Richmond, Virginia, focused on three major programmatic elements. Natural Light, focus work, and gathering space. The thoughtfully curated destination provides a social experience while still providing the tools and resources to get work done. People are spending less time in formal offices, adapting to flexible work hours, and expecting a wide spectrum of amenities. The space responds to many work styles including private offices, dedicated desks, casual lounge areas, and fully equipped meeting rooms. The challenge the design team faced was creating a space that felt welcoming and open, despite the dense program requirements of co-working. The private offices are arranged into neighborhoods, providing the members with an opportunity to identify with their co-workers and implement a layer of wayfinding throughout the space.
