A 100% agile office in Melbourne, employees of law firm Macpherson Kelley are granted full "choice and control" when it comes to their work environment with space to accommodate every type of work activity.

GroupGSA completed the agile design for the workplace of law firm, Macpherson Kelley, located in Melbourne, Australia.

This progressive legal firm in Dandenong is a 100% agile workplace. There are no assigned desks. The are no offices. Agility is inclusive of everyone including the managing partner.

Spaces are well occupied but not overcrowded. The design addresses “choice and control” with a variety of spaces, for example: individual desks, open and enclosed collaborative spaces, focus rooms, communal work tables, focus booths, social spaces, a “community like” business lounge, ping pong room etc.

On the ground floor, the community is welcomed into the space via a large, open business lounge. Like the town square this space abuts meeting rooms located around the perimeter.

Clients from the community of Dandenong can meet in either formal or more lounge like meeting rooms. Upstairs, the work floor embraces wellness and local design content. Nature, daylight and responsible materials are important components of the design. A large oculus (skylight) was added to the centre of the floor plate, giving the central collaboration spaces life and desirability.

The staff are located on the perimeter where they can choose a custom designed desk, focus booth or other settings that may support their work activity. The overall design was carefully planned at the onset from the strategy performed by an external consultant to the change manager who enabled paper lite and technology fluidity, to the design team that gathered evidence via focus groups, workshops and functional briefing activities.
