Andalusian architecture is a vibrant, colorful style that brings to mind rustic villas, sunny patios and an old-fashioned, solid sense of family. The decorative elements include wrought iron gratings, azulejo (painted ceramic) tiles, limestone plastering, interior courtyards and lavish landscaping.
No doubt we were truly inspired by all the features of Andalusian style while designing this gorgeous villa in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The villa features a high interior glass-roof covered courtyard with overlooking balconies from first floor. Central humidifying fans are used to control the dry weather of Riyadh. The rectangular patterned ceiling with hanging moonlights creates a magical feeling during day & night times along with providing shaded relief from hot sun.
Special limestone cladding is used on exterior to control the climate conditions as well as to replicate the limestone plastering used in Andalusian architecture. The columns and decorative arches around interior courtyard are also made of limestone.
Handmade marble mosaic tiles for flooring resembles the warmth of terracotta tiles. Colorful play of marble used in mosaic tiles adds life to interior. The marble mosaic patterns combine floors and walls in washroom areas.
Use of wrought iron railings, curved wooden doors, decorative wood paneling, water fountains and the lavish landscape are other major elements used.
