The design for the clubhouse and reception takes its inspiration from the iconic 1920s antique gate from the owner’s collection, reimagining what an Art Deco stately home might look like when it is used as a residence club. It needs to be modern and retro, classy yet relaxing, and highly functional and enjoyable at the same time.

Thematic elements come in parallel when we start to reconfigure the space itself – that of layering, progression, transition and focus.  It’s all about giving contrast to the experience of the spaces.  We expect residents moving from one area to another will experience completely different spatial qualities.  The iconic gate turned a relief art in the seating area where we designed it like a den.  Reception desk is set further back and merges with the library in black.  Letterboxes being carefully integrated in a secret chamber in front of the lifts to the apartments.  The dream-like lounge on the club floor serves both as the pre-function area for private parties and a place to chill out with its close proximity to the swimming pool. Integrating a communal kitchen, a living room and two terraces in the party room make it a residential style multifunctional venue where a bigger crowd of friends can be entertained. The rock garden and the courtyard add a soothing, introspective landscape to the establishment.

The overall feeling is one of serenity and drama in one place, achieved by the clean lines and high contrast in the design.

The entire clubhouse is mainly black and white, with clean geometrical lines and sharp contrast.  With the restrained use of color in the entire interior and outdoor, it’s a bit like making a FILM NOIR, and you keep working on the right black & white!  We have the intention to blur the in & out by making the outdoor as part of the interior. The graphical take on the spaces has a huge contribution to this and gives it a good dramatic factor.  Every space, both interior and outdoor, is made different from the other, but always with a careful articulation of the SCALE.  Coziness and tranquility have a lot to do with how you scale and arrange the set of spaces in the project.  We tried to produce a design with richness and complexity, at the same time there is consistency and harmony when putting them together.  We played around with the ART DECO elements, with an unspoken attempt to make them look not belonging to a particular period of time.  We love the visual elements which would evoke memories of the past, and they serve to bring a unique kind of sensational experience.
