Gresham Smith completed the addition to the Tallahassee Memorial HealCare with the M.T. Mustian Center in Tallahassee, Florida.

The M.T. Mustian Center, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare’s (TMH) new ICU and surgery tower, provides state-of-the-art critical care services with cutting-edge adult intensive care units to meet the growing demand in the region. Gresham Smith worked with TMH from inception to completion, developing a master plan that would anticipate the region’s needs for the next 50 years and designing the new facility. Using Lean design and a research-backed, human-centered approach, the space supports enhanced care, building efficiency and staff effectiveness.

The design aims to maximize patient visualization and interaction. Bedside charting locations, distributed support spaces, and nurse observation perches outside every ICU room will help to eliminate distractions and reduce medical errors. Integrated technology supports cutting-edge care as well as efficiency. Building-wide asset management and smart autonomous mobile robots that deliver materials means less time searching for equipment and supplies and more time with patients.
