Holiday Inn and Suites recently partnered with Atwater Inc. Studio to develop a youthful and relaxed hotel concept that pays homage to Nashville’s vibrant live music tradition.
The Holiday Inn and Suites Nashville Downtown Convention Center recently opened its doors, unveiling a fresh new concept for the IHG Hotel brand. Designed by Los Angles-based Atwater Inc. Studio, the 230-room property celebrates the city’s legendary live music scene and reinvents the past with a fresh perspective.
“We were tasked to create a relaxed vibe that would cater to a younger crowd while still appealing to a multi-generation of travelers,” said Atwater Inc. Studio Creative Director Stina Funch. “The challenge was to design a fresh concept that would adhere to the brand’s guidelines while creating a unique property that was an extension of Nashville’s arts, music, food, and drinking scene.”
Paying homage to area’s rich history, the lobby blends southern farmland decor with American heartland music nostalgia. Reclaimed wood floors, whitewashed brick and repurposed barnwood-style walls, and a midcentury modern color palette merge the old with the new. Coffee tables resembling a music cassette and artwork made by assembling multiple cassettes into a painted canvas, create a playful tone. Pendant lights above the bar reference whisky carafes, and cattle-inspired side tables, give the space a down-home touch. The rustic, midcentury decor is weaved into each of the guest rooms and suites. Barnwood-clad walls are accented with golden yellow carpet and whimsical cowboy paraphernalia. Bathrooms are awash in light, featuring chrome fixtures and white hexagonal wall covering. The resulting design is a laid back feel that instills a distinct sense of place, unique to the Holiday Inn brand.
Located in the trendy SoBro area of downtown Nashville, across the street from the Music City Center and Ascend Amphitheater, the hotel broke ground in 2017 and opened in early 2019 after an extensive $70 million dollar investment. It features 230 rooms and 30 suites, has over 7,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, and is home to the 4th & Peabody restaurant and tavern.
