Skogshuset is a summer house on Gotland's east coast. The house is adapted for a family with two adults and three children, as well as the many friends and other family who come to visit.
The house's proportions and roof slope, but also the tarred wood take up the design language and appearance from the sheds at the nearby fishing village, which is right next door. Sedum grows on the roofs, which makes the house part of the surrounding nature, which has a ground vegetation with moss and blueberry rice.
The house is divided into 3 temperature zones, which can be heated separately. Temperature zone 1 is an enlarged entrance area of about 15 sqm. It can also be used as a patio under a roof, if you open the glass sections and get open straight through, or as a glazed conservatory that extends the season or summer evenings.
Temperature zone 2 is about 43 sqm and is the social part of the house. That part also has a sleeping loft of about 14 sqm and bedded, site-built sofas in a niche in the living room, which means that the social part can also function independently. The adult couple can spend a weekend with friends, even if the children do not want to come along, without having to heat the whole house.
Temperature zone 3 is 32 sqm and has two children's rooms with bunk beds. The rooms, can be opened to each other with a large sliding gate. There is also a bedroom with a built-in double bed, a niche for work and a storage wall. The kitchen also has an outside part, which expands the house and allows for larger parties in summer.
Temperature zone 4 is the bathroom, which can have a higher temperature than other zones if needed. The bathroom has a sunken bathtub in the floor and an outside part with a shower and a wooden deck that can serve as a bench or a surface for relaxation or yoga.
