Can you also tell a bit more about you ?

我叫Björn Árnason，34岁，是一个在冰岛出生、成长和居住的摄影师。

My name is Björn Árnason and I´m born, raised and living in Iceland. I’m 34 years old and working as a photographer.

你为什么要做摄影？什么时候开始的？

Why and when started it ?

十年前。我本来想做平面设计，但是开了一家摄影工作室，大约经营了5、6年。我的绘画、涂鸦作品都很对称、简洁，这也影响了我的摄影。我在正式拍摄之前都会在脑海中事先构图。每天我都会看很多照片，我想做出不一样的东西。

I started taking photos about 10 years ago, I wanted to study graphic design but I started working at a photo lab which I ran for about 5-6 years. My drawings, graffiti and paintings that I have been doing since for many years before were always been very symmetrical and minimalistic and I guess that’s how I think visually. I had been seeing photographs like that in my head for a little while just before I started shooting them myself. I also saw many many photos each day at the lab and I wanted to do something different.

你的理念是什么？

What’s your statement?

我想我的理念就是努力发掘生活中大小事物的美。我的摄影作品中没有任何的政治或社会观点，只是单纯地抓住自然环境和城市环境中的美。I guess my statement is that I’m trying to point out the beauty in the little and big things that we usually pass by. I have no political nor social statements in my work not yet anyway. I’m just trying to grasp the beauty in the environment, both nature and in the city’s.

相比其它摄影类型，你为什么拍摄的大多数是风景？

Why do you prefer shooting landscape than others?

我拍摄的大多数是风景并不是因为我对风景情有独钟，而是因为冰岛是一个被大自然包围的国度，你不用走很远便可以远离城市到达风景秀美的乡村。我很喜欢去乡村，尤其是冬天。白雪皑皑的世界里，一切都显得十分宁静，你甚至只能听到自己的呼吸声。当然，我在市区内也拍摄了很多作品。我在雷克雅维克（冰岛首都）和巴黎拍摄了“墙”系列。今年三月我拜访了

（Mary Ellen Mark是当今国际摄影界最受人尊重的摄影家之一）在墨西哥瓦哈卡州的工作室。期间我拍摄了大量的城市作品，“人”出现在作品中，这是我以前从未尝试过的。对我来说，这是一个挑战，是一个良好的开端。Mary Ellen是一个特别棒的导师，我们在她的冰岛工作室也有合作。我不希望仅仅只拍摄风景，未来“人”在作品中出现的频率会越来越高。我和我的朋友Jörgen Hjerdt现计划做关于瓦哈卡州一家屠宰场照片的展览，这些血腥的照片将带来不一样的美感。

I don’t prefer landscape over anything else. I guess my work until now has been more landscape than anything else because here in Iceland you don’t have to go far to reach the city limits and be surrounded in nature. I love to go out in the countryside, specially in the wintertime. Everything is so peaceful when everything is covered in snow and you only hear your own breathing. But I also do a lot of work within the city limits. I’ve done small series of walls both here in Reykjavík and in Paris and I was in Mexico this March for

Mary Ellen Mark

‘s workshop in Oaxaca. There I did most all of my work in the city and I tried to include people in my work which I have never done before. It was a challenge but a good one, Mary Ellen is a fantastic teacher and I also work with her on her workshops here in Iceland.I don’t just wanna shoot landscape and I think people are going to pup up more in my work in the near future. My next exhibition will probably be from a slaughterhouse in Oaxaca. I and my friend from the workshop, Jörgen Hjerdt are planing to do a exhibition together on photos we shot at the slaughterhouse, really graphic, brutal yet beautiful images.

我注意到你的大多数照片中，上方的大部分是天空，你为什么要这样做呢？

I realized that the most part of your picture is occupied by the sky, why?

我爱天空！采用这样的拍摄手法是为了将天空与城市和风景分离开来，以便更好地突显天空。我想用大面积“留白”营造一种宁静感。

I love the sky! The sky is so much larger part of the horizon than the ground so its easier to isolate part of the city or landscape to include more of the sky. I like this big space of “nothing” in my pictures gives them a peaceful feeling.
