The Bund in Shanghai is a symbol of modernization and internationalization, with its architectural complex representing the history and culture of Shanghai. It has significant influence and significance in both world architectural history and urban cultural history. Teppanyaki is a dining culture originating from the traditional samurai class, where the cooking process on the iron plate and interaction with customers make the entire process lively and interesting. It has promoted the spread and exchange of Japanese culture globally.
IORI Teppanyaki is located along the street of the Bund Financial Center, and the entire design concept is influenced by the location of the Bund and the cooking philosophy of teppanyaki. The designer fully utilizes the decorative language of the Bund architecture to create a unique interior space. These decorative languages include the entrance, flooring, and the use of metal, emphasizing the characteristics of the location and the type of cuisine. The hanger at the top of the bar, accompanied by pink resin lights, seems like a treasure box that can transform time and space, dotted along the entire street with sheet metal grilles.
Different from traditional teppanyaki restaurants, we have chosen a more neutral approach to the interior space and decoration materials. The wall paneling is custom-made with deep walnut and pink colors, combining traditional and modern elements. The selection of stones heavily features local stones, and the use of parquet and edge cutting techniques recreate the unique charm of Shanghai's interior architecture. Mirrors are widely used in the space to expand the visual sense. In the antique mirror processing, hand-controlled corrosion positions echo the mosaic texture, providing a fun element for diners.
