Aranya is a newly developed cultural resort which in earlier days formed part of the Chinese Communist Party‘s official summer retreat. It’s situated a three-and-a-half hour car drive east of Beijing, just south of the port city of Qinhuangdao and smack on the coast of the Bohai Sea, and it’s gaining traction with fashionable young Chinese. And so much so, that fashion and lifestyle brands have taken note, setting up shop to cater to their fanbase. The latest one to arrive is Randomevent, a hugely popular homegrown streetwear brand based in Wuxi. The brand tapped Chinese practice Zach Architecture Design to build a two-storey structure with a combined red brick and ridged metal façade. Inside, the austerity of the building is offset by lacquered timber and parquet flooring which aims to attain a rich vintage style.

The expansive slanted ceiling design is adorned with an artwork by Donis, a Shanghai-based graffiti artist and friend of the Randomevent brand, which flaunts a deconstructed brand logo and interprets it through different styles of fonts and graphics. The ground floor has two entrances and features an open layout, displaying the brand’s latest seasonal clothing and accessories. Going one floor up, by way of a sleek concrete and glass staircase, a spacious domain unfolds with a similar aesthetic, designed as a creative interactive space for events and bringing various communities together, while also exposing them to the brand’s cultural heritage and philosophy.
