Moscow Manolo Blahnik store
Nick Leith-Smith Architecture + Design
The latest Manolo Blahnik retail offering in Moscow, designed by Nick Leith-Smith Architecture + Design, occupies a 55 square metre plot on the second floor of the prestigious Vesna Shopping Centre. The design is a thoughtful evolution of the original concept implemented at the celebrated flagship store in the Tretiakov Plaza Store.A store of contrast, the romantic yet rustic Dacha cottage architecture is revisited here through the grey vertical wood clad interior.
This texture is complemented by the white delicateness of lace captured in laser cut Corian panels which enhances the nostalgic theme of the Dacha. In Russian, lace or kruzhevo means ‘to encircle’, a process which initiated the design response to the preferably private shoe emporium. Through the tantalising gaps in the floral inspired Corian facade, glimpses of a discreet and restrained chamber can be gathered.
