‘cloud_formations’ was a weekend long installation project designed with hart marlow of SU11 and michael mccune of case inc, as part of tulane’s annual architect’s weekend, 2014. the event, known as ‘a-weekend’, is a student-organized tradition at the tulane school of architecture in new orleans, louisiana. the sculpture focused on the design and fabrication of a canopy, informed by dynamic site constraints.

tracking shortcuts that students take on their way to classes, the piece was conceived to frame these pathways. offering a symbiotic relationship between skin and structure, a comprehensive workflow was applied between multiple software platforms. the petals were parametrically derived, each unique, and CNC milled out of polycarbonate.
