草莓盗贼主题卧室设计

A simple bedroom that belongs to a girl, her age is undefined. She loves anything that's out of the ordinary, and doesn't like to follow interior trending designs but rather has her own style, living in her own world, getting lost in her fantasy stories.

Inspiration:

The essence of this project is the wallpaper designed by William Morris. "William was a British textile designer, and socialist activist associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. He was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. Morris came under the strong influence of medievalism while studying Classics at Oxford University. Thereupon, he founded the Morris & Co., which became highly fashionable and much in demand which also profoundly influenced interior decoration throughout the Victorian era."

The first time I came across Morris design was through "I'm thinking of ending things" movie and the wallpaper design was shown in the film poster, the second time was through "Nightbooks" a child horror series, it revolves around a child writing a horror stories, and I was mesmerized by how all those patterns made special vibe in each scene and how they fitted well with the actors' clothes as well as the whole decoration set; perceiving it through the witch's red dress with her green hair, and the red candles in the movie poster. The other source of my inspiration was from children's fantasy stories where incidents usually happen in an enchanted mystical woods, where animals talk and be the heros' tale. Viewing such stories' illustration designs they tend to use red and green colors the most, whimsical forests full of dark green trees, where thick clouds shadows all reality and logic, and ground folded with different types of wild fruits and berries...such colors and scenario prevailed in my project to be full of fictional characters and animals where incidents happen inside the room.

Colors:

Originally, since my inspiration came from woods and wild fruits, especially strawberries, the project was soaked with strawberry red and green tree colors. Though it's hard to merge these two highly contrast colors, yet using wallpaper with patterns that shows the two colors in harmony effortlessly, was the best bet; using patterns is always one of the best ways to merge different colors.

The answer is hidden in the picture where evidence lies in between.

In the wallpaper we see"catch" the bird in the act where it is sitting on the flower biting the strawberry! with extra evidence; there's a footprint of the bird left in the plate after diving himself into stealing the strawberry!

The pattern in the wallpaper is a famous work of

William Morris

, called

"The Strawberry Thief"

; he painted it when a bird came to his cottage kitchen garden and stole a strawberry, by means the pattern itself has a story which is not something extraordinary to Morris who happens to be a storyteller and a novelist too. 

In that I find it quite exceptional merging the art of visual with novels into one piece of art. And that's what I've tried to accomplish within this project inspired by Morris through my 3d work.

As much as I like the pattern, I allowed myself to be inspired by the taste of it to bake my own strawberry story project from concept to colors, and I hope you'll like it. Bon appetit!
