Design Miami’s e-commerce platform offers a curated and shoppable selection of design objects under $2,500. Take a sneak peek at what’s on offer

Design Miami launches DM/BX, a new shoppable platform offering works by celebrated and emerging designers at prices ranging between $50 and $2,500, offering a fresh take on collectible design and a more approachable retail experience for aspiring collectors. The Design Miami e-commerce site joins the fair’s Design Miami/Shop, a digital retail venue offering historic and contemporary collectible design from world class galleries and studios, and launches ahead of this year’s Design Miami/Basel, set to return to the Herzog & DeMeuron-designed fairgrounds from 21 – 26 September 2021.

‘While there have been challenges over the past 18 months, we’ve also had a really exciting opportunity to grow our audience through Design Miami’s digital content,’ comments Jennifer Roberts, Design Miami CEO. ‘What we identified is a really strong market for discovering contemporary and historic works at a much more accessible price point, which led us to DM/BX.’

DM/BX serves as a digital showcase that celebrates the designers of tomorrow, with a selection of objects spanning furniture, ceramics, books, jewellery, lighting, and including one-off and made to order pieces. Pieces on sale are from the fair’s galleries as well as independent designers, makers and brands, whose work will be available on the platform with specially curated updates in collaboration with guest curators.

‘It’s a place where people can expect Design Miami’s expert curation across a selection of limited-edition works, gallery picks and new launches, with some of the very best in collectible design but at a different price point to what people might usually expect,’ continues Roberts.

Pieces available for the platform’s debut include Martino Gamper’s ‘Martino and Friends’ series of functional ceramics, Nifemi Ogunro’s furniture, lighting pieces by Naama Hoffman, textiles by Studio Proba and colourful organic ceramics by Polina Miliou. The mix is a panoramic view of the fair’s offering, with more classic pieces available alongside experimental works.

The shoppable experience follows a series of new developments for the fair, including the launch of the Design Miami/Podium exhibition format first unveiled in Miami in 2020 under the direction of Aric Chen, with the next edition scheduled in Shanghai for November 2021.

‘As our programme of fairs expands, so does our digital offering, and the launch of DM/BX marks an important moment in the expansion of the Design Miami family,’ concludes Roberts. ‘DM/BX offers the chance for our team of experts to highlight beautifully crafted objects and champion the work of emerging talents. DM/BX will be a hub of limited-edition works and new launches, enabling design enthusiasts to browse and purchase, whilst also supporting our network of galleries and designers.’ §
