This small office building with public services for the Rotterdam social housing company “Woonstad” was injected in the post-war urban expansion of Rotterdam, called Pendrecht.

Carefully placed as a cornerstone of the existing texture of rigid geometric building volumes according to the CIAM schemes of Lotte Stam Beese, the building integrates a range of technical and design solutions aimed at low energy use, rainwater re-use, anti-heat-stress and open plan working conditions. If necessary the concrete structure can be disassembled completely and made fit for re-circulation.
