Store
Andreas Murkudis
The Andreas Murkudis Store in a hidden Berliner courtyard represents to a certain degree a new approach in how to design a commercial space. In this fashion and design store, the visitor meets an environment that is functional, as well as dedicated to a formal process, making the end product – the store – more or less transcends the borders between architecture, scenography and visual art.

This space integrates colour, rhythm, organisation and function, through a set of meticulously chosen tools. The monochrome, standardised cyan blue serves to accentuate the monumental qualities of the furniture. The furniture appear as minimalist object against a backdrop of neutral white, as if we were in a gallery room and not in a clothes shop. These aspects are further stressed by the arrangement of light, as well as other logistic elements.
No electrical or technical elements that are here can be seen. Nothing interrupts the view of the visitor. The gaze follows the clear and fundamental lines of the furniture, it partakes in the finely tuned rhythm of opaque, transparent, and reflecting surfaces, and it may be immersed by the big blue, as if it was light itself.

Exhibition
As department stores use different space identities to recognize different brands or good-types, the AAS proposition would use different topological spaces like the one we can find in a city or in a village.
The former printer space of the Tagesspiegel is composed in two large halls that we can see as an exhibition space but also as an urban site. The two halls have been clear-out in the way all architectonic elements remain the only substance of the spaces.

A few objects where carefully placed to articulate views on the goods. The used material is
finer board white painted and is usually linked to building construction. The light is an important element and is just not lighting the goods but the space. The result is a magnify space that also loose all heaviness.
