As mentioned in a previous post, Japanese retailer Muji has made a grand entrance in Shenzhen with a brand new hospitality concept, but that’s not all. The new outpost is actually part of an ambitiously concepted cluster of Muji venues that also includes a flagship store. Situated on the second and third floor of the same building, the store is seamlessly connected to the aforementioned Muji Hotel. It covers a sizeable 1,726 sqm., and is one of the largest Muji stores in China. The interior design, created by Tokyo-based practice and lontime collaborator Super Potato, features a range of largely wood-infused, functional settings, each adapted to the merchandise on offer.
A variety of shelving, displays and decorations add to the retailer’s lifestyle focus and the unique shopping experience that comes with it. The new Muji flagship store stocks a wide range of goods, including apparel, storage items, cosmetics, furniture and also travel items. Additionally, shoppers can partake in the Open Muji programme of in-store workshops and other events or attend the Muji Yourself workshop that teaches how to stamp or embroider garments and objects, and there’s a made-to-order service for curtains, carpets and sofa covers. The Muji Books section presents a sizeable selection of reading material.
