Located in a busy neighborhood in Bangalore, spread across 8000 sft, spanning 7 floors. We believe Venus Communiti is a new age workspace!
The ground floor of Venus has been designed as a lounge; this space is so flexible that it can host events, cooking/baking workshops, product or art showcases & so much more! The mezzanine has meeting rooms, phone booths, and smaller discussion zones. The next 2 levels are coliving, followed by 2 levels of coworking and the terrace is a cafeteria for all users to hangout during lunch time or host jamming sessions in the evening.
We designed the entire 8,000 sft building spread across 7 floors, located in Kalyan Nagar, Bangalore.
Configuration of activities in the building are as mentioned below-
'Venus'- My client picked this name for the building before we got on board and this was a jumping off point for us. We derived a very sophisticated colour palette using brick red, orange, greys from the planet Venus and some accent shades. Huge double height glazing fills the ground and mezzanine space with abundant natural light and the colors playing off this natural light make for a playful, fun environment.
Venus Communiti is located in the busy & upcoming neighbourhoods of Kalyan Nagar. It was very important to me that the entrance is high impact and stands out from the neighbouring buildings.
Good thing for us, the entrance had floor to ceiling glass and this was perfect for us to give a glimpse of the space and make people notice this new addition in the busy neighbourhood.
We created a simple yet attractive light pattern in the reception, this becomes a hook to bring people in and trust me when they come in and see the rest of the space they are awed.
The reception table was made on site in a black matt PU finish. We opted for a Sattutario marble to play off the colour theme and this adds a lot of character.
Now, as we walk in it’s really not about the entry, it’s about taking in this open space.
You can see that the reception, lounge area, the pantry and the café seating area are all stacked together & it was important that all of our material & color selections worked together.
Our design strategy included creating a double height feature wall which would be the focal point in the room.
We have utilized Space under the staircase by adding built-ins and open shelves which is great for adding interesting display.
There were 2 huge windows on this wall which we decided to close. There were also columns and beams projecting on the wall. Our idea was to create 1 single surface level and puncture it with small cavities which have small lighting inside. This wall again was planned carefully; each line and groove is meticulously aligned to achieve a cohesive look.
One of the details I wanted to add in this design is some interesting flooring. This creates an interesting viewing angle from the mezzanine.
We have 3 types of flooring here, as you enter you have a light colour concrete tile, over to the café area we have a black and white pattern tile and in the lounge area, I wanted this space to feel warm and cosy so I opted for a wooden floor.
There is a long banquet style seating at the back with some more tables and chairs very much like a café style seating area. The chairs are custom made from wood metal and leather finish
The wallpaper at the back has been designed by the team. I also love that the wallpaper has got a bit of weathered & textured look to it. It was important to the design that this place feels modern & rustic at the same time. So we’re glad we achieved this with the wallpaper. We have also added traditional wooden moldings as trims at the edges of the wallpaper which really brings in that rustic vibe.
The island had to be a huge piece of furniture because of the events our client wanted to host here. It’s 9ft x 5ft island with a waterfall marble edge detail, and has fridge and storage inside. The backsplash in the kitchen is designed with a grid of small squares & rectangles and arranged in an order. The stone used is plain white quartz with 4x4mm grooves.
As a designer you have the opportunity to visualize things and then see those things happening in your imagination come to life. In this space, I love sitting on the blue couch and then looking at the staircase and the seating area all the way at the back and it’s just my favorite view.
As you move up the staircase to the mezzanine, you can see 2 phonebooths for quick conference calls, this booths have louvered shutter details in a soft pink tone.
The flooring is the best part of this floor, I wanted some geometric patterns here to complement the terracotta colour in the ceiling. Floors are from Welspun PVT click n lock tiles in Oakwood and Red shades.
There are 4 meeting rooms, the biggest conference room has a jungle wallpaper on of the walls.
Coliving on the upper floor has been kept minimal because this is the place that will have a lot of wear and tear. We have used different shades of paints to create an interest.
Coliving borrows the colour scheme from the ground floor and is mostly functional with fun accent lighting.
Terrace is the perfect spot to wind down after a long day, we’re on the 7th floor and Bangalore weather is amazing for most parts of the year to enjoy this space.
