‘LEDscape’ is an art installation that recurs to light as a constructive element of space and landscape.

Disclosed at the main patio of “Centro Cultural de Belém” in Lisbon, LEDscape aims to introduce the LEDARE light bulb to daily consumers, demystifying preconceived ideas about LED and emphases the pertinence of this technology for the sustainability of the future.

Challenged by IKEA to design the spatial installation, it is exclusively built out with the influential Swedish multinational brand components that were hacked to perform in an entirely new manner. The acclaimed floor lamp, which is divided in three modular heights because of the famous company transportation rules, was in fact assembled from one to five modular heights (the components not used in some cases were added to other), achieving a expressive and diverse light landscape.

Throughout the creation of narratives, often associated with marketing or advertising strategies, LEDscape is an architectural labyrinth that defies the passer-by to an interactive experience – a pathway that gradually lit up 1200 light spots, inciting for introspection and individual appropriation of the installation.

Having received more than 80,000 visitants, LEDscape stands as a collective remark on how technology allows to combine the available resources maintaining the current conception of economy and sustainability.
