Overlooking the Giudecca Canal, the new hotel Il Palazzo Experimental stands into the unique context of the Fondamenta delle Zattere and its view over the Andrea Palladio’s basilica. Cristina Celestino has been invited by Dorothée Meilichzon, leading the interior project, to design the exclusive cocktail bar, as a discreet living room open to the lagoon city.
Located at the ground floor, the cocktail bar is accessible by a direct entrance from the Fondamenta delle Zattere. It dresses an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere, preserving the conspicuous local character of the area. The project shows Cristina’s passion for Venice and its architecture, with many references to the Serenissima’s renowned culture.
The lateral openings, recalling the Serlianes thanks to the presence of portholes, and the mirrors with the distinctive thermal shape, as a Palladian evocation. Polychrome marbles and torchon frames (wooden and glass made) are used in different design elements of the interior. As antique mirrors, in sunset hues, that enhance the preciousness of the environment. Carlo Scarpa has been a major reference in the application of the Marmorino, that is being framed by metallic profiles.
The atmosphere that infuses the interior has the sweet flavour of a precious patina, that affects every detail. It gives an intimate and private appearance to the space, underlined by male’s elegance tones.
