In the exquisitely renovated Franklin Square lobby, GPI was able to bring Hickok Cole’s vision of “ribbons” of backlit glass to fruition, updating the previously 1980s postmodern aesthetic with sleek, yet complex, features that draw the eye through the space. Not only was the scale of these “ribbons” just massive, but they involved large, heavy glass panels, complex lighting environments, and meticulous detailing – all of which needed to be acutely engineered and tested to ensure the solutions were not only technically correct, but aesthetically appropriate. GPI handled this project as a turnkey package including engineering, supply of all surface/structure/lighting materials, and installation services. These backlit glass ceilings flow through the space continuing down the walls to illuminate the space. The mock up at GPI’s office in Cleveland was also integral in determining the proper glass spec and color temperature of the lighting.
