Overlooking the magnificent Figueroa Alcorta Avenue, this two-story apartment from the 1960s had great views, but an old-fashioned layout and materials. The task was to unify the space, create a more fluid environment, and take greater advantage of the spacious terrace on the top floor. To achieve this, walls were torn down, the structure was redesigned and mobile wooden panels were installed. New floor-to-ceiling sliding windows made the division between the new open floor plan and the terrace practically nonexistent. The final result is a more flexible, more expansive, and better-lit layout.

The interior materials were carefully chosen: oak wood for closets and panels, light travertine marble for the floors, and a light coppery grey color for the plastered walls; a three-color palette that helps to create a warm, intimate feel.

Furniture came from eclectic sources such as Vincent Van Duysen’s contemporary designs, Gio Ponti’s classics from Molteni, prototypes produced by our own office, and Argentine designers, such as CristiánMohaded for Nosten and Federico Churba. Local or international, custom or mass-produced, modern or timeless, this array of heterogeneous objects ends up creating a cohesive yet stimulating look.
